Aesthetician Annette Chavez removes unwanted body and facial hair with warm wax and a sugaring blend. She uses natural and organic products during facials that alleviate acne and sop up excess oil. Some of her facial add-ons include hot herbal towels and an organic lip treatment crafted from fruit enzymes, shea butter, avocado oil, and sunflower-seed oil.
One morning as Ann Marie was curling her lashes before school, the phone rang. Instead of putting down her eyelash curler, she held it in place as she walked toward the phone, but then tripped over a book and pulled most of her lashes out. Shaken and stirred to action by the incident, she began researching remedies and discovered permanent eyelash extensions. The event inspired her to open Princess Lashes, a beauty boutique where Ann Marie not only augments clients’ lash lines but also certifies other aestheticians in the art of extensions, an art that can be applied during tax season and when trying to make one’s child eligible for the NBA.
No two treatments are the same at Skin+. Instead, owner and licensed aesthetician Carly Pilar Sanchez ensures that each of the spa's services are personally tailored to address every individual's particular needs, whether that means minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and hyper-pigmented blemishes or smoothing rough patches and moisturizing dry skin. In addition to offering chemical peels and microdermabrasion, Skin+ also offers fully customized facial treatments that use Hylunia and Rhonda Allison skincare products to nourish and hydrate visages. Carly Pilar Sanchez has also created her own skin care product line as well titled Carly Pilar: High Performance Skin Care. The spa even helps people remove unwanted stubble by using anti-inflammatory strip waxes to uproot stubborn hairs from particularly sensitive areas or overgrown teddy bears.
At Lash Envy, eyelash expert Christine helps her clients showcase their individuality without words or even facial expressions. She achieves this feat by applying semipermanent eyelash extensions, whose wide range of lengths, curls, and thicknesses allows for highly customized looks. In a departure from classic black lashes, she also stocks colored extensions for especially vibrant makeovers and events. All of her services include valuable aftercare tips, which prevent the extensions from shedding or flirting shamelessly with lascivious butterflies.

"I love that surprised look that a new client gets when they first see the eyelashes on," says Katie, owner of Inspirexoxo. "Clients always comment [on] how natural and pretty they look without feeling like they are too done up." She often encourages people to bring in photographs of their ideal lashes or look, so she can emulate it.
Eyelash extensions aren't the only service that Katie and her staff offer, though. She and her team also wax away unwanted facial hair, soothe skin with organic facials, and even run a little boutique with clothing and jewelry. She likes to give her customers lots of reasons to return. "We have the best clients," she says, "They are more like friends."
It begins with a thorough consultation. Each visitor to Amity Green Room first sits with one of the massage therapists, discussing any aches, pains, injuries, or persistent ailments. Based on findings, the therapist then selects from six modalities to address issues such as stress and sports-related injuries. The office also offers scrubs of the back or feet, as well as aromatherapy.
