A Class III dealer of firearms and accessories, Midwest Gun Club equips its clients with more than just firearms. The company also offers classes, which range from concealed-weapon-permit courses to safe handgun practices and home-defense seminars. All class instructors have a background in the military or law enforcement or have experience in national competition. Along with classes, they help their pupils and visitors practice their aim and perk their ears like a hunting hound at an in-house shooting range.
At 30-feet tall, the ceilings at Infinity Athletics can safely contain the towering formations and soaring handsprings that leap from the center's cheer and spring floors and 7'x14' trampoline. More than 350 athletes stream into the 12,000-square-foot gym to pick up tips from the certified instructors, who draw from their own experiences as former cheerleaders, coaches, and figure skaters to choreograph high-energy routines for nationally ranked competitors, as well as those who are just there for fun. To help budding stars improve, the center is equipped with a video-playback system that provides coaches and gymnasts with a visual tool to help them fine-tune each tumble, and it also helps them imagine what their routine will look like once the attacking alien warships have been green-screened in.
Select Fire Training Center's team consists of male and female NRA-certified instructors, who lead classes in the use of pistols, rifles, and shotguns. Their clients range from kids to adults, complete beginners to seasoned gun owners. Outside of the standard curriculum, Select Fire hosts bowling-pin shoots and specials, including seniors' days, kids' days, and date nights. The center also sells holsters and other firearms accessories.
Bad Boy Bait, Tackle, and Archery keeps sporting enthusiasts prepared for the unpredictable nature of the outdoors. Marksmen nock arrows in an indoor archery area to aim at 5-, 10-, or 20-yard targets or an interactive range with real video of wild, wily game. From April?November, Bad Boy hosts Lake Erie fishing charters aboard a 30' boat, but the shop also assists fishermen with live bait, equipment, and honest fishing reports so anglers don't waste time trying to snag fish that've stayed home with the flu.
Urban Tactical Defense Center’s diverse team of trainers includes lifelong martial artists, former military personnel, and current police officers. Within the 8,000-square-foot facility—with two sparring rooms and a gym—these trainers pass on the self-defense and fitness techniques they acquired during their demanding careers to students of all ages, covering everything from defense tactics to proper firearms training. They rely on myriad approaches to boost health and self-confidence levels, imparting combat techniques during martial-arts and unarmed-combat classes; fending off calories in Combat Fitness Bootcamp courses; and bulking up entire bodies in circuit-training sessions. They even sprinkle meditation techniques from Chinese qi gong in some of their programs.
Alternatively, the staff leads youngsters through its own original MANTIS curriculum (Manage Any Nasty Trouble in School), acquainting them with tactics for dealing with bullies, teaching them self-defense moves, and hopefully giving them the strength to lift 12 action figures at once.
