The Wigwam Resort has provided Arizona with a luxurious retreat for more than 80 years. Saturday, November 1st, 2014 marks another day to remember in its long history. It's the date of the annual Wigwam Harvest Wine Festival, an event showcasing more than 75 specially selected wines from Sonoma, Napa, Central Coast, and Pacific Northwest wineries. Attendees get a souvenir wine glass and 15 tastings included with the cost of admission; they can also purchase full meals separately, or just enjoy their sips while listening to live music from Sunday Drive.

Ground Control’s cuisine reflects the cosmopolitan lifestyle of its owner, Sean, who offsets his nightly bartending with daily travels as a professional pilot. He and his wife, Tara, have also lived abroad, a sojourn that developed their taste for European dining. Now settled in Arizona, executive chef Chris Ibarra still satisfies their cravings—and those of their patrons—with scoops of house-made gelato atop stuffed crepes, short ribs braised in Guinness, and custom wood-fired pizzas crowned in ingredients such as roma tomatoes, duck, and gouda. Open for three meals a day, the eatery also anoints glasses with exotic ingredients by serving rich espresso drinks, creative cocktails, and sippy cups of water from the Fountain of Youth. Live music fills the space every Friday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Brewfest on Lincoln supplies each of its visitors with 20 sampling tickets, ensuring that they get ample 3-ounce tastings of their chosen brews to rinse their mouths. Local food vendors dish out plates to pair with each foamy pour. The afternoon's entertainment draws from a variety of genres, featuring bands from genres ranging from R & B to classic rock.
The meats of Mexican cuisine are as diverse as the colors of the rainbow, and Ta’Carbon strives to serve every one. Chefs load up the charcoal grill with familiar morsels of certified-Angus carne asada and barbacoa and pair them with specialty cuts such as lengua, cabeza, and tripa. These sizzling cuts then find their way into burritos, tacos, and dinner platters, which guests then customize at the salsa bar with a choice of red and green salsas, pico de gallo, and spicy vegetables according to their own tastes and the rules of upcoming fire-breathing contests. To crown meals, the chefs sling traditional desserts such as flan and stock a range of Mexican sodas. Guests can grab food to go at the walk-up counter, enjoy their meals outside on the patio, or stay for an imported beer and watch the HDTV plasma screen showing soccer matches or telenovelas about people watching soccer matches.
Cheers Tavern’s interior glows with its baker’s dozen of 51-inch high-definition TVs and its gargantuan 80-inch LED high-definition TV, which contributes to the pub’s lively, neighborly setting where regulars cheer on stock-car races, football games, and other sporting events. A menu of pub food, including wings by the dozen and a deep-fried cheeseburger, pairs harmoniously with the eight draft beers that flow freely from Cheers' taps. Guests can throw darts or play pool to stoke their own competitive fires, or they can see who can shatter the most beer mugs with high notes during Ultimate Karaoke on weekends.
