Photographer Dina Ivory has cultivated more than 30 years of experience in her field—shooting timeless portraits of adults, children, and infants. Dina and her staff grease the wheels of each shoot, ensuring things run smoothly by catering to kids with treats, assisting subjects with wardrobe and prop choices, and supplying parents with diapers for little ones. The client-focused experience, which helped the studio win a “Best of” nod in 2010 and 2011 from Tallahassee Magazine, continues with complimentary portrait consultations, wherein an expert photographer walks subjects through their photo options before the camera starts clicking. Inside the studio, Dina snaps families in front of classic backgrounds before digitally retouching each batch of shots. Outside, Dina guides guests to a picturesque farm on Sunray Road where she captures subjects gliding through the air on a tire swing, leaning against a bale of hay or a vintage 1948 Ford truck, or giving a pedicure to a belgian draft horse.

After her daughter was born, D.J. Whitman was rarely without her camera. As she photographed her daughter growing up, she realized picture-taking was her passion, and she made it her profession. Since 1984, the knowledgeable staff at Tallahassee Photo has been helping customers take, display, and transform their photos, videos, and artwork. The shop's stock of photo equipment and supplies includes cameras and lenses from Sony and Canon, as well as Fujifilm film, Tamrac camera bags, and other accessories. Once photographers have snapped their shots, they can head to the website for online photo-printing services, or they can order photo books, greeting cards, and photo gifts.

The professional framers stock more than 200 frames for custom jobs. They can also inlay their work with custom-cut mats, including those with multiple openings to display shots of everyone in a family or show off a progression of a cat's Christmas sweaters over the years. They're also able to create frame-free canvas and gallery wraps.

For moving pictures, Tallahassee Photo’s staff offers video-transfer services. They use the same equipment employed by the Library of Congress and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to handle 8mm, Super 8mm, and 16mm films. They can also transfer formats such as VHS and Betamax onto DVDs or transfer old audio formats (such as LP records) onto CDs.

Kellie McLanahan, a graduate of Lively Technical Center's commercial photography program, captures award-winning images both in her professional studio and during on-location shoots. The artist's clean and contemporary portraiture captures the essence of her subject's personalities, whether for a family portrait, wedding day, or in celebration of a newly discovered facial expression. McLanahan, herself a mother of two energetic boys, also excels in baby and child photography.

All photographic journeys begin with a complimentary consultation, wherein the artist and her portrait subjects discuss their goals for the portrait session and any incapacitating fears of flash bulbs. One to two weeks after the shoot, clients return for a personalized ordering session.

JCZ Photography is intent on capturing spontaneous moments and hearty smiles. The Grow With Me portrait package documents the first year of your child's life, saving you the hassle of keeping a scrapbook or duct-taping a camera to your forehead. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes and is tailored to bring out each child's developing personality, allowing them to sit, roam, or do the Charleston before the snapping camera (a $75 value each). The first session occurs when children are infants or newborns, they return at 3, 6, and 9 months, and again at their 1-year anniversary of being born (in place of a photo shoot you may choose to use the last session to record your baby's first birthday party). After each session, proud parents, baby-sitters, and behavioral psychologists can go over proofs and select one for printing, creating a chronological lineup of five prints (a $25 value each) to document your child's progression from wizened potato to toothy-grinned tot.
