Terrio Therapy-Fitness, a physical-therapy and fitness center, constantly looks to its mantra, “there has to be a better way,” when helping patients and the local community deal with problems. That’s why it creates custom therapy and fitness programs, why it developed two pediatric centers that cater to children with disabilities, and why it has expanded from one small outpatient clinic to 12 clinics throughout the area with 35 physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Though the staff primarily cater to sports injuries, the range of services has evolved to treat both adults and kids with a variety of therapies, such as occupational and speech therapy, teaching kids and adults how to deal with pain or say “my name is Sharon” in Esperanto. The centers’ fitness facilities build muscles through group classes such as Pilates, fencing, and sports-specific skills training, and personal-training sessions provide one-on-one workouts with exercise gurus such as Steve Sobonya, who has trained Olympic gold-medal winners.
