At Rebecca’s Salon, the focus falls heavily on the eyes. The salon specializes in eyelash extensions, and its certified lash stylist outfits peepers with thick, sultry synthetic lashes that can last up to six weeks. With lashes that come in numerous thicknesses and lengths, the stylist can meet each client’s needs and affix lashes that best suit their personal style. Rebecca’s also carries lash dip, a pharmaceutical-grade coating that adds volume to upper and lower lashes, and rounds out its services with waxing, manicures, and pedicures.
Heading down Main Street in historic Clarence Hollow, you might notice a whimsical three-story structure with a clock at the top. Salon in the Tower lives in that building, and as Kaitlin Fritz reported for metroWNY, it’s the realized vision of Roe Baran, Jennifer Ilunga, and Laura Patterson. The trio spotted the quaint, schoolhouse-like structure while scouting the area, after the salon where Ilunga and Patterson had previously worked shut down. After meeting with the building's owner, they worked around the clock and opened the redecorated salon four days later.
What began as a staff of two has now grown into a team of 14, with Ilunga and Patterson—both educated at Bumble and bumble University—holding the reins. In addition to performing the latest cutting and coloring techniques, they perform spa treatments such as massages, facials, and mani-pedis against a backdrop of dark wooden columns, trim, and wall paneling. They use Pevonia's botanical- and marine-based products for skincare services, and they carry the Olivia Garden line of bamboo brushes, which can help with home hairstyling or distract an attacking panda.
Founded in 1974 in Memphis, Tennessee, by the eponymous Sam Ross, Fantastic Sams is a family-friendly salon geared toward quality. Today, the brand spans more than 1,200 locations, employing a legion of experienced stylists as they wage wars on bedhead and uneven bangs. Wielding shampoos and conditioners crafted with provitamins and soy proteins, the staff offers services such as haircuts, color treatments, and straightening treatments.
Stylist and owner Kimberly Heeb helms Salon on the Avenue, a full service salon and spa that delivers treatments for body, hair, and skin. Standing behind black leather chairs and broad mirrors, stylists set to work cropping, coloring, and conditioning locks, while nail specialists perform digit upkeep across the salon. Inside the spa’s cozy private quarters, clients can indulge in skin-clarifying facials or massages that release tension more than kneading a stress ball into a fine powder.
Resplendent gold, orange, green, and red walls line the treatment rooms inside Salon On The Avenue. Here, Allison Weaver spends her days inside a private treatment room as she applies eyelash extensions to enhance existing fringe. The certified technician adds both volume and length with her extensions that result in looks that range from natural to dramatic.
