Toes wiggle and stretch within leather and mesh shoes as patrons test-walk pairs across Arthur's Shoe Tree's four-decade-old storefront. Expert staffers—two of whom are New Balance Procare fit specialists—buckle and lace feet into sandals, running shoes, and other styles from brands such as New Balance, Nike, and Sperry. Shoes for children jut out from wood-paneled wall displays, with kicks from Stride Rite, Nike Kids, and Skechers. An array of accessories rounds out each pair of footwear, such as plush Smartwool socks, therapeutic insoles, polishes, and weather proofers, which ward off damage from walks across puddles and waterbeds.
Thanks to Nirvana Pizza, you don't have to go all the way to New York City to get New York–style pizza. The chefs here craft thin-crust pies, serving them up by the slice for those heading out, or in full form for those heading to the dining room. They begin with the crust itself, and then smother it with your choice of sauces, including classic red and garlic white. Next, a blend mozzarella and provolone cheeses covers the canvas, and toppings such as pepperoni, green olives, and chopped garlic are added as the finishing touches, much like the mustache on the Mona Lisa. Diners can create their own ingredient combinations or dig into a specialty pizza, such as the Candy BBQ Chicken, the Live It Up Mushroom Madness, and the Blue Cheese Steak.
Joe Butler doesn't do things halfway. When he wanted to learn to be a physical trainer, he went to LA, trained with some of the top trainers in the world, and began training pro athletes and movie stars. Then he opened his own personal training gym, where he assembled a team of trainers with a combined 200 years of training experience. These days, he and his trainers lead guests of all fitness levels through training programs that include boot-camp, speed-and-agility, and RX Fit classes. Every student who walks into Prescription Fitness is treated to a health assessment and goal-setting consultation, allowing clients to slim down, bulk up, or prep for javelin season.
The servers at Arrabiata's dole out hearty portions of classic pastas and other Italian entrees, setting the delectable dishes on tables topped with white tablecloths. At the bar, patrons can enjoy martinis, beers, and glasses of vino. Chefs spike pans of marinara with mushrooms, meatballs, or sausage before blanketing plates of noodles in red sauce or dressing servings of veal Sinatra in tuxedos.
