Cleveland Fitness Revolution's head trainers each helm a team of certified instructors that pool their diverse experience and knowledge into helping individual fitness-seekers and corporate clients of all fitness levels get in shape. Eschewing military-inspired practices such as barking orders into a bugle, these motivating instructors incorporate personal-training ideologies and interval training during indoor boot-camp classes. They also help clients shrink waistlines with Cardio Revolution classes, which marry high-intensity interval training with less impactful cardio and core exercises. They don't just teach group classes, however. For those who prefer more one-on-one training, these certified instructors customize workouts that suit the clients' needs and fitness goals during semi-private personal training.
They further bolster the effects of their comprehensive fitness programs with nutrition seminars, recipes, and programs to keep their clients from sliding back into old, unhealthy habits.
Heidi Braun discovered the concept for Thank Dog! Bootcamp in Fitness magazine, and thought it the perfect fit for herself and her high-energy border collie, Maggie. She traveled to beautiful downtown Burbank to check out the program in person, and decided that she wanted to become its ambassador in Ohio. She got her ISSA personal training certification, and began recruiting humans and dogs to join her on her new mission.
During a class, Heidi teaches her students an entire suite of circuit-training exercises designed to be performed outdoors in the natural beauty of parks. Simultaneously, she instructs their canines, training them to respond to nine different commands as issued by their owners. This regimen has the added benefit of teaching pooches to be calm in the presence of other dogs without feeling the need to growl, mark territory, or play poker.
The personal trainers at AMP Fitness believe that all workouts should be catered to each individual guest based not on personal experience but on anatomy. With that philosophy in mind, they offer 30- or 60-minute completely customizable one-on-one sessions with guests according to their fitness goals. They also use MyZone, a heart rate and calorie-based monitoring system that utilizes cardiac telemetry combined with online accountability and feedback, to help clients track their progress.
With the desire to make women of all ages, body type, and confidence levels feel empowered and beautiful, the fitness instructors of X-Exercise create six-week exotic-dance fitness sessions catered to the group of women enrolled at the time. Over the course of six weeks, they learn striptease fitness or other exotic dancing during 60-minute classes that include stretching, core work, and strength building.
Each instructor of Nirvana Yoga has had her falling-in-love moment with yoga. Jessica Fill turned to the ancient art after a shoulder injury stopped her swimming career, Melissa Pilat found yoga a useful complement to her 18 years of ballet and modern dance, and Abra Goldman began practicing yoga to augment the fitness cultivated through her lifetime dedication to running. This band of experts leads fluid classes, drawing from the Baron Baptiste style of flowing from pose to pose in a manner that creates a rigorous, strength-building practice linking movement to breath. The team also teaches Power Vinyasa classes in an 88- to 90-degree studio, the warmth coddling muscles and helping to increase flexibility and release toxins. Jessica, Melissa, Abra, and company also impart fundamental postures in a pressure-free atmosphere during Power Yoga Basics held in a cooler studio, where they correct stances with hands-on adjustments, like science teachers who correct physics homework by actually becoming a human cannonball launched at a 45-degree angle.
After years of working at a "globo gym," Marty Pajek and Kyle Eshleman decided to provide a better route to fitness than routine cardio and strength training. At Crooked River CrossFit, they join two other certified coaches in teaching functional, constantly varied CrossFit classes. The classes begin with aerobic activity and instruction to proper form, and then students take off on a high-intensity workout that may include lifting heavy objects and moving large loads.
