Professional athletes. Stay-at-home moms. Corporate executives. CrossFit Forth Worth caters to all kinds of people, and sometimes the only common bond between students is their desire to achieve functional fitness. Daily workouts combine elements of weight lifting, gymnastics, and endurance training to keep bodies guessing at all times and thus maximize results. Rather than perform isolated lifts or stretches, students use several muscles at once to pull weights, throw tires, and form human quadrangles. CrossFit Fort Worth's certified and experienced instructors lead group classes at locations in Haltom City and Bedford.
Dave Fannin remembers when treadmills were found only in doctors’ offices. As someone who has watched the fitness industry evolve since his first front-desk job at a gym in 1984, it’s no surprise that his weight-loss programs incorporate a wide range of techniques. Since opening his training business seven years ago, he’s helped more than 1,000 clients achieve a healthier lifestyle with a combination of nutritional coaching, fat-burning workouts, bursts of cardio, and ample support and motivation. He shares these regimens through one-on-one sessions, small-group personal training, boot-camp classes, and by acting them out in games of charades. Regardless of a client’s fitness level or unsuccessful attempts at weight loss in the past, Dave welcomes the challenge of helping them get healthy.
An intensive four-week exercise regimen crafted by certified personal trainer Ally Davidson guarantees speedy results and sweat-addled brows for campers across the fitness spectrum. Ally’s local boot-camp staff sends muscles on a brisk march toward a firmer condition six days a week, helming total-body workouts that include interval training, plyometrics, and an abs-twisting assortment of timed strength and agility drills. The staff regularly switches up workout regimens to ensure that muscles don't become as bored as nihilists in a bounce house. Aware that not all recruits have the same motives for joining their flab-busting brigade, trainers customize their workouts to squeeze the best results from bodies of all ages and fitness abilities. The camp schedule varies based on location, with four early-morning camps to awaken muscles stuck on snooze and a pair of evening sessions to end the day on a note of high endorphins.
The inspiring trainers at each MetaBody location lead troops of workouteers in results-oriented workouts several times weekly. Sweat sessions utilize a variety of exercises and disciplines to produce full-body results in a supportive environment, ideal for beginners and hard-core core-hardeners alike. During any class, motivational instructors will use the instinctual distrust of routine to their advantage. Begin a day of litigating with a refreshing early-morning boot-camp session, or wind down by burning evidence and pounds with a late-evening yoga class. Muscles are kept guessing with new and challenging moves during each session, so participants never fall into a boring, ineffective routine, such as regular teeth brushing. In addition to the fitness classes, students receive a success guide to help prepare for imminent pound loss, a nutrition guide, and a $100 gift certificate for individual coaching. Because the pass sets a 10-class cap at any given location, roving fitness mavens can further shake up their workout regimens by vetting a series of classes or instructors that work best for them.
After playing as a defensive back for Texas A&M, Angel Rivera III joined AFL, AFL2, and IFL teams such as the San Antonio Stampede and the Dallas Knights before injuries eventually forced him into retirement. But then another chapter of his life began, and his love of the game led him to begin training local athletes. In 2010, he created All Out Sports Training to help high-school, college, and professional athletes take their game to the next level. Angel’s team of sports nuts empowers football, baseball, soccer, and basketball players by whipping them into shape and developing their sports-specific skills. The fitness team uses programs such as the Speed, Agility, and Quickness training, which gets participants racing through speed ladders, doing box jumps, and donning speed resistance belts.
The trainers also help non-athletes reach their goals through programs such as bridal boot camp, which is designed to boost self-esteem, tone bodies, and give brides more energy for the traditional 50-yard dash down the aisle. During personal and couples training, the trainers might get their clients hefting dumbbells, jumping rope, or straining against resistance bands, all depending on their individual goals.
What makes your business stand out?
Even though kettlebell fitness has been around since the early 1700s as training for the Russian military, it has just recently … become known as an extreme way to [combine] cardio and strength building in one. My business is a unique business at this time, due to the fact many people are utilizing kettlebells incorporated in their other workout routines in the gym but not many have any idea how to work out exclusively with kettlebells. I teach them that, and they are getting amazing results very rapidly!
What is your most popular offering?
The unlimited group fitness classes for individuals and couples [are] the most popular because [they] give my clients the most flexibility with their schedule and a huge discount. The other [popular option] is our private in-home lessons, [which] are great for the very busy people who cannot make it to our location. We go to them [for class], which is a 30-minute session.
What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a customer?
One of my customers came to me at the beginning of class, very hesitant and negative about thinking he will not get a good workout working exclusively with kettlebells. Ten minutes into the class, he bowed his head to me and said with a smile, "You have humbled me in a great way, I'm so glad I came." He is a very dedicated customer to this day!
What’s your favorite part about your job?
Helping people on a daily basis get healthier and reach or, even better, exceed their fitness goals. I truly love people and love what I do!
