We are dedicated to the care and development of the children we serve. We pledge to provide children the loving care and respect they deserve and to work every day to encourage our children as they develop and grow. We consider it our privilege to invest our days in our community’s most valuable asset — our children.
We educate children 6 weeks to 12 years old in English, Spanish and American Sign Language. Our stellar accredited curriculum stimulates each child through creative teaching strategies. Our convenient extended hours of operation from 6:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. are sure to fit anyone’s busy schedule.
To some kids, playing means building a block house; to others, it means reading a good book. PlayToday Drop-in Daycare accommodates kids' varying interests with a wide array of play stations, geared toward ages 2–12. One station is geared toward reading, another focuses on building, and others range from an audio center to a dress-up wardrobe.
Southern Breeze Day Spa freshens tired bone bags and soul sacks alike with a variety of detoxification treatments, massages, and other targeted treatments. Freshen a flagging frontispiece with dual services such as a euro-facial, which cleans, tones, and moisturizes skin and includes a rejuvenating scalp massage ($30). Or work out tension from kinked feelers and their like-minded supports by opting for a hand/arm or leg/foot massage ($30 each). A targeted massage ($35) is ideal for unknotting precise pains from a specific area such as the lower back, hips, or hind flanks, and a detoxifying steam treatment ($25) purges the skin while retaining its nutrients and flavor. While bodies are busy blissing, eyes can feast upon the relaxing beach-themed décor or peruse the spa's retail offerings, including Miche bags, as well as an array of tanning and body lotions.
At 7:15 in the morning, kids begin to arrive at Odyssey Early Learning, with 4- and 5-year-olds dashing to the door, and babies and younger children drowse on a parent's shoulder. Inside, the staff—all trained in early childhood care—greet the kids and direct parents to a sign outside posting the activities of the day. Teachers corral students as young as 6 weeks and as old as 5 years into age-appropriate peer groups.
In class, instructors blend play and academics, engaging little right brains with music and art lessons and creating new left-brain folds with science projects, math problems, and reading. Throughout the activities, the staff aims to develop social, emotional, intellectual, and motor skills to better prepare kids for the classroom, playground, and tree-house conference room. At the end of the day, parents get a daily feedback report, and every month, staffers prepare a progress report. Parents can also monitor classroom behavior via an eye-in-the-sky webcam, accessible through a password-protected website.
For more than 130 years, the YMCA has worked to facilitate growth for individuals as well as communities by providing social-enrichment programs that promote honesty, respect, and responsibility. YMCA of Greater San Antonio, which features locations throughout the metropolitan area, helps people improve their lives with healthy living programs that offer inclusive training classes as well as lifelong learning classes. Youth development initiatives and childcare services allow children as well as teens to develop positive behaviors while exploring their interests in a safe, supportive environment.
