Joel Marion first cultivated his creativity while enlisted in the Air Force and working as a photojournalist. He taught himself the complexities of shutter speed and f-stops through trial and error. Through his company—Joel Marion Photography—the autodidact has become one of the fortunate few whose avocation becomes their vocation, unlike Michael Jordan, who longed to dunk donuts instead of basketballs. Throughout his career, he has worked in fashion and advertising in St. Louis. By working with area clients for more than 30 years, Joel brings an experienced and creative approach to family, baby, high-school senior, and head-shot portraits. His wife Carol manages the studio while Joel's design and Photoshop specialist, Kelly Tucker, helps their clientele create aesthetically pleasing compositions.
Eleven Fourteen Photography's crew pours its passion for boudoir photography into each meticulously composed shot. Photographer Chaz Murphy collaborates with his clients for sultry photo shoots that exude their distinct personalities. His shots skew toward the sexy, but he's happy to stray outside the conventional strictures of boudoir photography. In addition to shots of subjects in lingerie, he also captures flirtatious images of them in bathing suits, wedding dresses, or everyday outfits, depending on their preferences.
At Heroic Photography's studio, clients pose for tastefully staged boudoir photo shoots. For other types of shoots, two photographers haul their gear to each of Heroic Photography's on-location photo shoots. This extra set of eyeballs and extra lens ensures that the best angles are captured at weddings and senior and family portrait sessions, and it can help capture a mix of formal and intimate moments. In addition to traditional prints, the shots produced by Heroic Photography can be consumed via private online galleries and hand-designed photo books.
The photographers at Strike A Pose Photography match their settings to their subjects, creating memorable images set in local spots or against intimate studio arrangements and backdrops. Outdoors they carefully capture the expressions of kids, couples, and families, as well as the rich texture of stone walls or the bristles of tree bark that surround their compositions. Indoors, the studio is decorated to reflect a theme or holiday, and photographers take special care to shoot beauty-pageant headshots that rely on natural retouching, soft lighting, and other tricks to conceal imperfections. For more exotic shots, Strike A Pose places subjects in front of green-screen backdrops of idyllic locales, such as Venice, Disneyland, or a white-sand beach on the island of Dr. Moreau.
La Femme Couture Glamour Studios' all-female team handles every aspect of its studio shoots, starting with makeup and hair sessions with the in-house stylists. These prep subjects for studio shoots with La Femme's photographers, who believe that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and ages. This attitude is demonstrated across La Femme's portfolios, which span boudoir, glamour, pregnancy, baby, and owners-who-look-like-their-pets photography.
