Given her cool expertise, one can be forgiven for thinking that Molly Peebles has owned and operated The Joyous Tulip Birth & Holistic Healing Service for decades. Her path as a therapist and doula actually began a mere 18 years ago, when her son was born. Having been guided through her pregnancy by a certified nurse-midwife, she felt compelled to give other women the same support system by becoming a doula.
Before long, Molly was studying at Bastyr University to become a certified birth doula and had graduated from several massage programs. She draws on all of her diverse skills at The Joyous Tulip, where her growing service menu includes pregnancy massage, postpartum massage, and other types of bodywork designed to ease the pains of carrying around a child for nine months or pushing a boulder uphill for eternity.
In a busy and hectic world, licensed massage therapist Michelle Peterson invites her clients to lie down, exhale deeply, and escape from their day for 60 minutes. A student of Swedish, deep-tissue, and Thai massage styles, Michelle collaborates with clients to identify the type of massage that best meets their needs. High-quality oils and lotions soothe the body and soften the muscles as Michelle realigns connective tissue, teases out tension, and reduces joint tension. Bellevue Best Massage also offers prenatal massage to ease pains associated with pregnancy as well as hot-stone massage, or LaStone therapy, which is French for “the stones they made my body good feel.”
Bellevue Center for Health?s massive staff of chiropractic doctors, licensed acupuncturists, and male and female licensed massage practitioners offers an equally sprawling list of services. A waiting room equipped with leather couches and chairs greets guests before treatments such as acupuncture or naturopathy. The professionals search for natural cures to ailments such as fatigue and stress, and chiropractic care and massage therapy can iron out cramped muscles and aching backs, which are commonly caused by craning one?s head to see the massage therapist. Other services include allergy testing and orthotics.

Sometimes the little things make all the difference. Do you bake any supplementary services into your main services?
All massages have complimentary aromatherapy added, if desired, customized to [the client]. All massages are 60 minutes of actual bodywork (assuming client is about 5?10 minutes early), [and] have a neck and scalp massage included. Organic oils or cr?mes are used. [The] use of an eye pillow for all clients (either a scented or unscented) during the supine massage position is offered to soothe the eyes.
What are some of your most popular services? What do you think clients love them so much?
Deep tissue, because it is focused on an area of the body where the client is experiencing tight muscles or pain. Hot-stone massage, because it brings the client to a more grounded and deeper level while relaxing them holistically. Pregnancy and postnatal massage, as it's vital to the mother's wellbeing both during and after pregnancy.
How did you get started in the beauty industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
I used to massage my mother as a little girl because I enjoyed it. She used to say that I should go into massage therapy when I grow up because I just seemed to 'know' where to focus my massage application. Ten years ago, I had that ah-ha moment when I gave her a massage again, realizing that my path was always right in front of me.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Massage at Renton Massage Studio is all based on intentional touch. I massage the areas that show me, with palpation, where there is a stopped flow, or a knot; then I work on that area to release it. I always set an intention with each new client before each treatment, so that I am, in a sense, connected to a higher source, which assists me in giving every person, the most custom and beneficial massage.
After working professionally as a chemical engineer for eight years, Shelley Banoo decided to direct her deep understanding of molecules and compounds toward improving human chemistry. First acquiring a license as an aesthetician and then as a massage therapist, she blends an intricate understanding of chemical minutiae and a genuine passion for anti-aging skincare science to compile a roster of products that produce real results. Having now practiced spa work for 10 years, Banoo has grown accustomed to seeing all types of skin and can sometimes recommend an appropriate regimen of treatment on sight, eschewing tests and intrusive hugs other practitioners often rely on.
