  • Oil and Vinegar - Bellevue
Founded in the Netherlands in 1999, Oil & Vinegar offers customers the chance to experience exciting new tastes. At the Spokane location, recently brought under new management and now veteran-owned, visitors choose from more than 40 ?on tap? vinegar and olive-oil flavors that glow from within their suspended glass containers. The staff makes transporting purchases convenient by selling bottles onsite or filling bottles brought from home. Condiments come in creative flavors, such as blood-orange grapeseed oil and hibiscus vinegar, and include standouts from Italy, Spain, Greece, France, South Africa, Morocco, USA, and even Japan. The list is almost as impressive as the number of Oil & Vinegar stores (more than 90) peppered across 13 countries. Guests can sample the oils and vinegars before committing, and stock their cupboards with the shop?s other offerings?appetizers, herbs and spices, pasta, and even serving dishes.

  • Yuen Lui Studio Costa Mesa
Yuen Lui Studio, a family-owned photography business specializing in individual and family portraits and wedding photography, creates visual heirlooms in a tradition of quality it has upheld since 1947. With several area studios available, each boasts a multitude of backdrop options for portraiture sessions, or photographers may take sessions outdoors to add natural scenery to the frame. Wedding and engagement shots come to life under the careful eyes of each photographer as they seize rare moments and trap them in frames to be displayed like trophies from a hunt. High-school, child, baby, and family portraits keep precious memories locked in time for clients, who can peruse an online gallery of their images after their session.

  • The Sophia Way
In 2006, Bellevue First Congregational Church opened a day center to provide respite for women who are homeless, and later opened The Sophia Way as an overnight shelter. It was equipped with 10 beds for single women who have no place to go for a night's rest. Today, the organization has recently acquired an additional space that can house 21 women at a time. In addition to overnight shelter, The Sophia Way also provides a two-year subsidized apartment for 45 women at a time, along with life-skills classes and case-management services to help the women work toward financial independence.

  • Bellevue Towers Inverstors
A record-breaking ascent to the top of luxury condominium Bellevue Towers, the Fight for Air stairclimb raises funds to benefit the American Lung Association. Participants will each need to raise at least $100 in donations by October 20 before they max out glutes while completing a 45-, 90-, or 182-story climb, the latter of which encompasses a whopping 3,242 stairs. To keep you climbing at a steady pace, leave the weighty Super Soaker with straw attachment at home and take advantage of designated water stops every ten floors. Though it may be tough, the grasp for the top burns massive calories, earns you bragging rights, and can induce a hallucinogenic euphoria known to the French as l'esprit de' l'escalier. It's all in the name of a good cause, of course, as more than one million children and adults in Washington struggle to breathe each day because of lung disease. Participants that raise $250 or more are automatically entered to win two round-trip tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flies but do not earn permission to slide the banister back down to ground level. Check out the event FAQs for more information.
