Husband-and-wife team Felix and Sara inadvertently started a love affair with photography when they began taking pictures of their children every day to share with family members scattered across the globe. Over the years, this personal project has amassed more than 12,000 images and served as the impetus to found Felix Rust Photographers.
Felix and Sara describe their style as "quirky and un-posed," an aesthetic they create using unusual vantage points and washed-out colors. Flipping through the couple’s portfolio, viewers are treated to heartwarming portraits, including a kissing couple captured in the reflective puddles of a red-brick street. Additionally, Felix and Sara collaborate on boudoir images; Felix snaps shots while Sara draws on her experience as a former model to suggest poses, backgrounds, and clothing options.
Ali Mohammad and Nadeem Mazen never got the memo that it was dangerous to play with lasers; they’re willing to carve intricate graphics into almost anything, including the 215 loaves of bread it took to animate the autumnal music video for OK Go’s “Last Leaf.” Now, from their shop—whose sign warns passersby that “it’s the future in here”—they etch equally creative messages and images into the gadgets and gewgaws of their clientele. Laptops, iPhones, and other electronics take on customization, as well as items stocked by the shop itself, from metal business cards to pint glasses and hardwood planks awaiting to become personalized kindling. The showcase demonstrates their expertise with pictures of previous projects, such as a guitar body carved with an elaborate swan and a kitchen knife inscribed with an ominous message.
Hypnotherapy runs in Rebekah DeMartino's family. She spent her childhood watching her grandfather guide clients to well-being through hypnotherapy—a task to which he devoted 35 years of his life. Today, the certified hypnotherapist honors her grandfather at her hypnotherapy practice, Able Success Hypnosis. Through self-improvement and recreational hypnotherapy, she decimates barriers that keep her clients from wellness. Self-improvement hypnosis can preempt the subconscious precursors to poor behaviors, such as smoking or overeating, or simply ease anxiety. Recreational hypnosis, on the other hand, exists solely for fun, allowing clients to relive memories, unearth the secrets of past lives, or reflect on a deeper level.
