At eight showrooms across the Kansas City area, SleepOne Mattress Superstore's aptly named sleep advisors recommend mattresses that will accommodate budgets and physical conditions such as stiffness and pain. After scouring the showroom's floor, the staff might suggest a Sterns and Foster mattress made with materials such as silk and cashmere. They also offer delivery and removal of the old mattresses.

SleepOne Mattress Superstore also fights nightmares with several guarantees. For example, their staff will refund 110% of the difference in price if customers find the same mattress sold for less. They also exchange mattresses for up to a year (only charging a redelivery fee) and offer a rehabilitation program for reformed boogeymen.

The Marleybone entertainment center ($1,605+) swathes the customer's plasma television in style, and the 60-inch English farmhouse table ($1,080+) allows levitating plates a brief moment of respite. Media-mixing artist Julia Shapiro creatively combines photography and painted portraiture to capture family countenances on black-and-white film enhanced by hand-painted, vintage-style color. Julia invests time in getting to know individuals and families before guiding them through casual sittings in her loft-like studio. Candid shots can include clothing changes and sentimental props such as a beloved teddy bear or a favorite vacuum robot. About a week after the shoot, patrons return to pick up the completed set of proofs and select an image for the final portrait. Julia develops the chosen image in black and white as an 11"x14" print, then transforms its surface with oil paints according to client taste. The result, much like wedding dresses and the ability to verbally hypnotize squirrels, can be handed down to future generations.
