Started by owners Mark and Dave, Decatur Bikes moved to Decatur four years ago and still continues to cater to fellow athletes in the community with equipment, repair services, and advice. Mark and Dave guide patrons through the shop?s selection of high-quality brands to find a ride that will maximize efficiency and comfort without replacing the seat with a La-Z-Boy. Each bike bought at the shop comes with free basic adjustments for life, and the shop?s experienced technicians are always available for more extreme fix-ups. Decatur Bikes also sells a variety of bike apparel, nutritional bars, and supplements for athletes' various needs.

Whether he's training a celebrity for an upcoming role in an action film or helping a client lose weight, Joey Dillon is poised to challenge and motivate. It's a role the personal trainer first took on in high school, when he would assist his fellow football players in reaching their fitness goals. Now the owner of STATUS Athletic Club travels to his company's locations in LA, Miami, New York, and Atlanta to oversee the various programs he's established and personally train clients.

Clients will find plenty to do to jump-start their fitness routines or maintain their physiques. They can simultaneously strengthen muscles and self-defense skills during Brazilian jujitsu and muay thai kickboxing classes; fortify their cores and postures in Pilates sessions; and trick themselves into working out during upbeat Zumba classes. They can also meet with nutritionists to create meal plans that will help them shed unwanted pounds?or relinquish stress and muscle aches during massages and chiropractic appointments.

Skate Escape is a convenient bike and skate shop located at Piedmont Park’s 12th Street entrance. An Atlanta institution for decades, this casual, laid back shop feels like it was decorated by tween-aged skater boys, but it carries an impressive stock of products and a knowledgeable staff. Whether you’re in the market to buy a new bike or to rent skates, bikes, or gear for a day or two, the staff at Skate Escape will get you kitted out with whatever you need. If you’re new to riding or just have a casual interest, renting the basics offers you a chance to try different products before you commit to a purchase. There is limited parking at the shop, but get there early to score a spot in the lot or on the street, especially on Saturday mornings when the greenmarket is held in the park.

Lauren Whitmore Powers knows what it's like to be out of shape?she was more than 80 pounds heavier before she discovered boot camp. Her transformation from heavy to fit inspired her to become certified in Schwinn cycling and Level 1 CrossFit so that she could help others achieve the same kind of results. Today she acts as program director of Total Fitness Revolution, working alongside a team of 15 other instructors that includes lifelong athlete Rashad McDade, yoga and pilates teacher Michelle Wade and CrossFit Coach, Richard Bowen. This team of trainers helms one-month boot camps and one-on-one training sessions, as well as small-group classes that cover the ins and outs of CrossFit, Pilates, yoga, and Zumba.
