Since 2000, Pinnacle Fitness Bootcamp owner David Nash has been fine-tuning his fitness-coaching expertise along with a trained staff. In addition to picking up certifications in health and physical education, nutrition, first aid, and other areas, the certified personal trainer has also honed specialties in athletic performance and the biomechanics of human movement. Rae Stampley, head trainer at the Smyrna location, draws from a background of playing competitive sports and teaching health and physical education and is currently an A.C.E. certified personal trainer.
At Pinnacle Fitness Bootcamp, the staff shares its fitness training and nutritional-guidance expertise with students during indoor boot-camp sessions. During classes, students go through a variety of workouts from walking lunges to relay races and partner team pushups.
At Peak Performance 360, certified personal trainer Jamie Hayes and his staff can help exercisers either slim down or bulk up. This flexibility is due to the breadth of their performance training services, which include everything from CrossFit training to toning classes that are supplemented by meal plans. For even more customization, Hayes and his team schedule personal training sessions, where it's just the exerciser, the personal trainer, and a whole bunch of applauding U.N. dignitaries.
Renee and Cintron know firsthand that it's not enough to simply bring your body to the gym. An effective workout should be driven by positive energy, not a sense of weary obligation. And, ever since losing weight with a Zumba fitness regimen, Cintron has tried to spread this outlook through festive dance.
The instructors lead invigorating classes at RC Fitnez Studio, transforming exercise into a celebratory event. Their Zumba sessions teach groups intuitive dance moves that match up to Latin and world music. On certain Saturdays, students even come together for Zumba dance parties, a better way to socialize and shed pounds than bench-pressing your blind date. Cintron also hosts Power X 15 classes, which tone muscles with strength-based routines. Specialty classes on the schedule can vary, but may include offerings such as Turbo Kick kickboxing and Identities of Hip Hop.
With a resume that includes ballet and rock-climbing experience, Amber Monson took naturally to the graceful art of aerial silks. She founded Sky Gym as a place to train herself and others in her most beloved pastime, and ultimately, her venture paid off.
When she's not training and performing with other aerialists all over the world—including some from Cirque du Soleil—she passes on her skills to new students, helping them discover new levels of strength and grace. Besides aerial silks, she keeps students elevated with classes such as trapeze, sky yoga, and lyra—a ceiling-mounted hoop in which students spin after being dunked by their favorite NBA player. “I can’t decide which is more fulfilling to me, performing aerial or teaching it," she says on her website. Nonetheless, she continues,"I am incredibly grateful to my students and my trainers for allowing to make aerial dance my life."
At Zumba Fitness & Health, licensed Zumba instructor Vanessa St. Julien guides students through calorie-burning, muscle-sculpting dance routines set to Latin music. In each one-hour session, up to 200 students throw their arms in the air, sway their hips to the beat, and shake out sweat in workouts far more dynamic than traditional weightlifting or cavalier weight-dropping.
