Committed to strengthening the local community, Belvidere Family YMCA welcomes visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and income levels to improve their mental and physical well-being by drawing on its many resources. During open-use times, members enjoy access to the indoor pool and the recently renovated exercise center, and basketball, swim, and justice leagues, coached by many of the center's more than 1,000 volunteers, are available for all ages and superpowers. Belvidere Family YMCA also hosts several fitness, arts, and recreation programs, with members receiving discounts on youth activities such as before-and-after school programs for students up to eighth grade and flag-football leagues for children. Reduced member rates also apply to adult programs such as karate and kyuki-do martial-arts classes. Families can venture to the center for free events, including the Christmas Extravaganza, where children help construct a neighborhood of gingerbread mansions, and Dive-In Theater in the YMCA's pool, where movie-goers are welcome to lie back on a floatie for wall-projected movies, or act out an alternate ending during screenings of Splash, Too.
Anytime Fitness, which boasts more than 1,800 clubs in North America, makes it easier for average folks to etch out time for exercise by doing one simple thing: staying open 24 hours a day for 365 days a year. As fitness seekers challenge themselves on cardio and Hammer Strength machines and hoist Iron Grip free weights in clean, well-stocked facilities, security monitoring ensures they’re safe and producing enough sweat to meet official government standards. Members can also ramp up their exercise regimens with the help of Anytime Fitness’s staff of personal trainers, who demonstrate moves and sling motivating tips. After workouts, guests can shower in the private restrooms or hop into one of the tanning booths available 24 hours a day.
As a NASCAR Home Track, Rockford Speedway has rumbled under the wheels of hundreds of racers, including Ted Musgrave and Rusty Wallace, and after 63 years it continues to host nearly 50 automotive altercations each year. To inaugurate the 2011 season, over 50 vehicles will simultaneously take on the high banks of the quarter-mile oval track in the WXRX 104.9FM Stone & Double T 200 Lap Enduro. From the vantage point of the grandstand seating on both sides of the track, speedway spectators will watch as drivers exact road rage upon each other's vehicles to determine who is truly the best at making left turns fastest. On both the asphalt oval, as well as the Monza course, which utilizes the infield to test even the most skilled vehicular virtuosos, drivers will introduce their four-wheeled machines to walls, bumpers, side panels, and other drivers' four-wheeled machines.
