When it comes to martial arts, Krav Defense founder and head instructor Anthony Santopadre has done it all. He began studying karate and judo 25 years ago, then earned his first and second black belts in the art of jujitsu. After 10 years of training, Santopadre decided to expand his horizons and belt collection yet again, studying for and receiving his third black belt in kung fu.

It was during his kung fu education that Santopadre discovered krav maga. The instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios appealed to Santopadre, so he immersed himself in the discipline and became a certified level-three instructor through the Krav Maga Security Federation in Israel. He shares his ability to disable assailants and wrestle nuts away from squirrels in a variety of classes, including fitness-focused cardio sessions and ground-fighting classes that focus on takedowns and submissions. The techniques of krav maga are tools for self-defense that can be effectively carried out by men, women, and children.

With more than 30 years of kid-entertaining experience, The Little Gym provides a safe and noncompetitive environment wherein wee ones and maturing moppets can exercise their brains and bodies. Youngsters from 10 months to 12 years can glean social, intellectual, and emotional skills from the facility's professionally developed programs. Diverse limb-elongating activities immerse children in gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, and karate, which extinguishes the need for watchdogs or child-size security guards. The programs cater to differing ages and levels of muscle development, as well as a communal hatred of vegetables. Each session's hands-on activities keep the indefatigable energy motors of little tikes revving, facilitate bonding, and boost listening skills, attention spans, and confidence. In 1987, Evelyn Knapp and Carol Kur founded Personal Training Institute. Since then, their creation has expanded to 13 locations, thanks to a well-executed specialty: custom fitness and nutrition programs. The institute's one-on-one training regimens start with an evaluation, which covers everything from a medical history to a body fat analysis. Based on the results and clients' goals, trainers craft workouts that blend strength training and cardio, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, and motivational techniques, such as convincing clients that they can run all the way to Hawaii. The comprehensive regimens feature nutritional guidance, too, which helps clients to boost their overall health along with their fitness levels.
