Though they flock to her for relief from their chronic aches and pains, licensed acupuncturist Jessica Peck knows that her patients sometimes have a difficult time around needles. The effort she has taken to mitigate these pretreatment jitters exemplifies her uncommon empathy. Her acupuncture rooms are notable for their wealth of household creature comforts, from the floral sheets that adorn each bed to decorative touches such as antique lamps and Victorian-era massage chairs. As these calming accents send patients into a state of profound relaxation, Jessica calls upon her expertise to restore harmony to the body?s internal systems with needles strategically placed along energy pathways. When she isn?t soothing headaches, sore muscles, or other maladies with acupuncture, Jessica sets minds and bodies at ease with cupping and other holistic therapies.
At Biddeford Saco Boot Camp, a soundtrack of crashing waves fuels morning workouts as campers pound out set after set of pushups, planks, and plyometrics while stationed on the beach. Stray sand kicks up as participants urge each other on through varying workouts, each of which combines strength training with aerobic challenges. Founder Amber Bell enhances this sense of camaraderie during each day's workout by injecting a physical challenge or a game to keep classes fun. After a cooldown and stretch, classmates can take off their sneakers to dip their toes in the water or take turns caber tossing the nearest lighthouse.

They also ensure participants break a sweat during turbo kickboxing classes at the studio.

In order to reach the finish line of the Raid Series obstacle course, participants must hoist a sandbag, leap over marine hurdles, and scale a cargo net. The course is designed to emulate a run through the city streets, right up to the finish line, which is actually a climbing wall. It's one branch of The Raid Series, a trifecta of terrain-inspired 5Ks that also include the Mountain Raid and Beach Raid. After racers complete the course, which is on the sand of Old Orchard Beach just one hour and fifteen minutes from Boston, they can jet to the after-party to enjoy beer and live music.
