One of the things that inspired Jennifer Pejo to become an athletic trainer was the vague medical advice she received after her own sports injuries when she was growing up. She wanted to help others recover more quickly through treatment and rehabilitation and teach them about the healing process along the way.

Over the course of her career, Jennifer has worked with professional and Olympic athletes, discovering that massage therapy provided both healing and pain relief. Today, Jennifer runs Wild Orchid Event Production, LLC, where she calms muscles with a variety of modalities including Swedish, deep-tissue, and sports massage. You can also opt for hot stone treatments and reflexology, which taps into the body's internal connections through points in the feet to reduce the effects of aches and pains.

Kelly Leahy could be called a body mechanic. She has memorized the ways that the body's components can move, stretch, and strain, causing tension to accumulate in muscles. Her massage treatments try to alleviate that tension with several modalities, and from flowing Swedish kneads to the targeted pressure that addresses sports injuries, her approaches are customized to each client. She and her husband Matthew have also mastered ART, or active release techniques, a system of massage and specific movements that aims to restore tight, overworked tissues to their healthy state.

What began as a small venture—rubbing her dad’s back for a quarter as a child—has turned into a full-time career for massage therapist Laura. She joins fellow massage therapist Tara at Absolute Body Balance as they work out chronic aches and pains with Swedish-, deep-tissue-, prenatal-, and sports-massage techniques. They boost their massages’ benefits with hot stones, hot towels, and a cooling serum.

Samoa Massage is the dedicated massage center of Collinson Chiropractic Clinic. As such, the therapists calibrate pressures specifically to soothe stressed and sore muscles. Deep-tissue and trigger-point-therapy massages hunt down embedded muscle knots that fester deep inside soft tissue, and Swedish massage strokes travel across entire bodies, dealing light and medium pressure in order to promote relaxation.
