Though you probably won't find pirates' buried treasure at Adventure Cove, you will find two 18-hole golf courses with waterfalls, caverns, and Japanese koi swimming in ponds. Each course presents its own challenges and adventures to conquer. The Paradise Falls course takes mini-golfers through a two-story cave, and Lost Lagoon's 18 holes wind across hills and waterways. Indoors, dozens of arcade games dispense tickets that can be exchanged for prizes or shredded to use as celebratory confetti.

Lawton Stables' knowledgeable guides lead beginners riding Western-style on one-hour trail rides that pass through the undisturbed Sea Pines Forest Preserve, which spans 603 acres. While sitting, posting, or head-standing atop gentle mounts, equestrians delve into palmetto-covered canopies and wildflower meadows before breaking in horseshoes along the banks of Lake Thomas. Small groups ride at a leisurely pace on the trail, winding past hordes of wildlife that may include herons or alligators basking in the sun on the bank of the lake. Reservations are required, and guests must arrive 30 minutes before departure adorned in loose-fitting clothing, closed-toe shoes, and chainmail.

Run by experienced horse adorers, Camelot Farms guides gallivanting guests on trail rides along its 60-acre farm that is flanked by breathtaking vistas of the Atlantic Ocean coastline. Two-hour sessions commence with mini lessons and safety instruction, wherein staff members discuss the future possibility of centaurs and match guests with rider-friendly mares. The Saint Helena Sound coastline beckons apprentice equestrians along sandy shores, past an original plantation house, and alongside moss-draped trees. Camelot Farms' pristine facility boasts a covered lighted arena, a dressage arena, several pastures more than an acre in size, and two main pastures outfitted with large run-ins. A popular locale for television and film, Camelot Farms has hosted six episodes of Horse Master with Julie Goodnight, and a handful of its steeds served as assistant art directors for a Robert Redford film.

Pirate's Island Adventure Golf keeps mini-golfers guessing as they traverse two 18-hole courses impeded by all manner of pirate-themed obstacles. The courses provide an ideal venue for all members of the family to sink testy putts, then retrieve dimpled orbs from the cup and behold them like a scurvy-plagued buccaneer admiring a citrus fruit. Demonstrate a steady hand by sinking a putt while being stared down by a skeletal swashbuckler, or study the patterns of water dispersal while playing one of the holes that run alongside refreshing waterfalls. Children with high verisimilitude standards will appreciate the well-wrought pirate-ship wreckage and treasure chests that stalk them as they loop the course and hone their knowledge of nautical terminology.
