Dawg Tired & Cat Naps Too owner, Gray Moore, draws on a lifetime of experience working with domestic, farm, and even wild animals to expertly care for pet owners' beloved canine and feline companions. The two-building facility entertains daytime guests with televisions, music, and furniture reminiscent of their favorite couches from home, whereas a 6,000-square-foot outdoor area abounds with games of fetch or vocal repertoire classes. Luxury suites furnish overnight pups with beds, blankets, and themed décor as can be found in rooms such as the Princess suite, Nautical suite, and the Beach suite. For pets that prefer to stay at home, the trusty staff offers pet-sitting and dog-walking visits and can also zoom Fidos to daycare or vet appointments with a pet taxi. Grooming services are also available for dogs in need of a mane makeover or sprucing up for upcoming power lunches.
First and foremost, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center's mission is to provide ill or injured sea turtles with medical attention, nursing them back to health before—ideally—releasing them back into the ocean. Fortunately for the public, the center lets other wildlife enthusiasts visit their patients and hold up get-well cards to the viewing window. Inside Jekyll Island's historic power plant building, visitors watch marine biologists care for and feed the remarkable reptiles.
Through hands-on exhibits, the center offers additional insight into the natural lives of sea turtles as well as the threats that these turtles face along the Georgia coast. In addition to educating visitors about wildlife conservation, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center also supports ecological research programs that study ways to help the area's species survive even as their natural landscapes undergo drastic changes.
Savannah Pet Sitters owner and operator Erica Deeb personally tends to pets in the homes of absent owners, and is fully trained to dispense first aid, CPR, and love to your beastly best friend. Erica’s services free up to three critters from the stress of an owner's absence with comprehensive care. The dog-sitting service ($25/day for one household) includes providing pooches food and water, two daily bathroom breaks, one 30-minute walk, and any needed medication. The cat-sitting service ($12/day) includes granting felines food and water, litter-box cleaning, and any needed medication.
You can hear the dogs before you can see them: the sound of playful barks and panting as tails thump on the ground. The happy pups at In The Dog House spend up to 10 hours a day romping with like-sized dogs throughout the 7,200-square-foot play area at their disposal. The space is divided into four indoor and two outdoor areas, with larger dogs and smaller dogs playing in separate areas to prevent the little dogs trying to hitch piggyback rides atop the larger ones. Canines spending the night can lie down in their own individual, climate-controlled kennel.
Hedged by thick evergreens and home to sprawling grass fields, Shambley Veterinary Clinic cares for creatures great and small. The compassionate staff treats four-legged friends, such as horses and canines, with the same love and care they would show their own animals during services that include checkups and dental work. And with a full surgical facility onsite, the clinic can answer emergency calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The facility is equipped with modern technology, such as digital x-rays and pregnancy ultrasonography, as well as an ambulatory unit to safely bring in gentle beasts for their treatments. Geriatric care for cane-wielding canines, as well as holistic care, such as preventative medicine and dietary counseling, also fall within the clinic's wide field of veterinary expertise.
Premium bedding. Fine china. Beautiful paintings, which only occasionally come to life. Knotty Dogs Boarding has many of the things you'd expect to find at a resort, except for human tourists. Here, dogs of all sizes play inside and outdoors during daycare visits or overnight stays. Two dog lovers run the operation: Amanda Adams, a licensed veterinary technician, and Stanton Adams, an experienced entrepreneur.
