Some like theirs rare and some like theirs well-done. Some like theirs bare and others like them chock full of toppings from eggs to shredded pork. No matter your burger preference, the competitors at the third-annual Boca Burger Battle will surely suit your fancy as they vie for the Golden Burger trophy and the titles of Best Boca Burger and Best Alternative Burger. Nineteen burger makers from throughout southern Florida converge, grilling inventive and alternative burgers, all of which guests get to sample. Contenders include grill masters from Bite Gastrotruck, Morton's Steak House, and 4th Generation Organic Market, who will be judged by seasoned chefs, festival-goers, and their mothers. To wash down juicy bites, the folks from Cockspur Rum and Iceberg Vodka will mix rum punch and Electric lemonade, alongside a slew of craft beer and wine vendors serving their own boozy creations. And the tastings aren't just limited to burgers and drinks; vendors will also dish out fries, onion rings, salads, wings, and desserts.

After the judges have declared the winners, the festival kicks into after-party mode with live music from rock fiends Classic Rock Therapy, previews of Star Motorcycle's sweet new bikes, and, of course, more drinks and eats. A portion of the day's proceeds will benefit the nonprofit organization People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership, so you can leave feeling good about more than just your expanded palate.

Beach Segway allows visitors to take in the sights and sounds of Deerfield Beach without walking, driving, or fighting for elbowroom in a crowded bus. La Playa Water Sports thrills customers with its aquatic thrill rides, including a new one: the flyboard. After the rider is strapped in, they're propelled up to 30 feet into the air?or dive below the water's surface?thanks to powerful jets of water spewing from the board-mounted boots and wrist-mounted nozzles. The durable craft draws its power from any personal watercraft, such as a jet ski or hyperactive dolphin, letting the fun go on and on. Certified trainers, including Fredrick Senn, one of the first flyboarders in the area, are always on hand to fit clients with life jackets and helmets and to cover safety tips and basic operation before each session. Though the waterfront facility specializes in flyboards and banana boats, future services will include surfboard and kayak lessons and rentals.

The most recent addition to Paragon Theaters’ repertoire of upscale movie venues, Paragon Deerfield 8 Movie Theater cushions customers in the plush luxury of its newly renovated theaters. Stadium-style seats pad posteriors as their owners gaze upon the silver screens from clear vantage points. An expanded concessions menu sates the palates of moviegoers by presenting a range of hearty fare and, for those of age, beer and wine.

Sony HD digital projectors bathe the towering screens in crystal clearness, granting films a visual crispness so pronounced it has enabled sponsors to advertise their logos in actors' pores. The company plans additional upgrades and outdoor seating to bring all the amenities found in its locations in Miami, Florida, and Burnsville and Rochester, Minnesota, to the new Deerfield Beach location.

Montreal native Tony Bianco teamed up with executive chef Enzo Addario to create Hot Tomatoe, a traditional Italian bistro boasting a menu that brims with house-made, cooked-to-order pastas, flavorful meat dishes, and full- and light-bodied Italian wines. Their regional cuisine typically integrates up to seven essential ingredients—oil, garlic, basil, tomatoes, pasta, and olives—from which Snow White’s seven dwarves drew their names. In addition, the staff goes shopping for fresh ingredients three to four days a week to supplement both seasonal compositions and year-round dishes, which include veal parmigiana, filet mignon, and penne norma.
