  • Sunshine Window Cleaning
In 1992, Greg Reid was in college and working as a manager in a downtown juice shop. One day, while reflecting on the store’s lackluster performance, he watched his friend, Tony, shine the windows. His own window-cleaning experience sprang to mind, and when Tony finished, Greg asked him if he’d be interested in teaming up. But since Tony was headed to Oregon, he gave Greg his three accounts, and suddenly, Sunshine Window Cleaning Inc. & Building Maintenance was in business. The company’s grown over the past two decades, and today, Sunshine Window Cleaning Inc. & Building Maintenance’s insured workers constantly hone their knowledge and skills through membership in the International Window Cleaning Association. Their window services range from swabbing glass inside and out to replacing damaged panes and screens. In addition to keeping portals open for sunbeams, Sunshine Window Cleaning Inc. & Building Maintenance maintains homes with handyman services such as repairing roofs, constructing decks, and declogging pipes of their resident ghosts.

  • MacDonald Art Glass
A temperature of 2,000 degrees is hard to comprehend. Its the heat at which some lava flows, as well as the RealFeel temp inside a minivan that's been sitting in Death Valley all afternoon. But for David and Kristi MacDonald, 2,000 is the degree at which they melt borosilicate glass with a specialized torch. The husband-and-wife team share a love of glasswork that has extended to creating a glass studio in their own home. Here, they sell their glass artwork and share their knowledge through lessons, during which they teach students of all levels how to safely craft their own glass creations.

  • Payette Brewing
Payette Brewing Co. is an interesting mix of tradition and rebellion. It's founder, Mike Francis, gave up the corporate life to roll the die on a new venture in one of America's most time-honored industries. Using a 15-barrel brewing system, Mike and his staff cultivate high-quality brews in traditional styles?stouts, ales, and lagers?that aim to embody the adventurous spirit of Idaho and their own penchant for skiing, hiking, and kayaking. Inside the tasting room, they pour pint glasses or offer smaller samples for those who can't commit to one beer just yet.

  • Ophidia Studio
Pick up a copy of Boise Weekly, flip open the Idaho Statesman, or tune in to Boise State Public Radio, and you might catch Ophidia Studio’s owner, Allison Holley, spreading the gospel of pole dancing. "It feels fun," she told Boise State Public Radio's Scott Ki. "It's kind of like playing on a jungle gym, and adults don't get that chance." Along with a coterie of experienced instructors, Allison casts off the bad rap of an activity that she says some see as "demeaning or degrading" in pole-dancing classes that build fitness and self-confidence in a playful atmosphere. Inside a hot-pink studio peppered with stationary and spinning poles, Allison and her crew walk students of all levels through a number of creative pole-dancing moves, beginning with spins and working up to inversions, choreography routines, and ceiling-fan impersonations. Their expertise doesn’t stop there, though. The instructors also offer an arsenal of other sensual classes such as belly-dancing, hoop dancing, poi fire dancing, and Curvesque, which helps whittle waists and define the feminine form through fluid, dance-inspired movements. They also offer the more-traditional fitness classes of Zumba and body blast, along with yoga and its elevated counterpart—aerial yoga, which suspends students in a fabric sling hung from the ceiling.
