What is the best reaction you?ve ever gotten from a client?
I once gave a massage to a a disabled vet who said he'd lived in constant Level 7 pain for over 20 years. He'd suffered a fall a few days before calling me and his pain levels were in the Level 9?10 range at that point. I worked on him for about three hours and when I was done, he was able to cross the room unassisted. He said that his pain had dropped to the Level 4 range, lower than in many years. His whole family hugged me on the way out.
What steps do you take to make your clients feel at ease?
Soft lighting, soothing music and pleasant scents.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
I'm less interested in watching the clock than I am in fixing people's issues.
At Family Back & Neck Care Centre, chiropractors Dr. Charles A. Maurer, Dr. Jeffrey D. Steinle, Dr. Christopher L. Nelson, and Dr. Emily R. Wentworth alleviate alignment-related conditions that range from carpal tunnel syndrome to chronic lower-back pain. On the first visit, the doctors assess each patient to make sure chiropractic care would be an effective course of treatment—if not, they happily refer clients to another practitioner. After conducting a battery of diagnostic tests that may include taking x-rays and testing reflexes, chiropractors analyze the results to tailor a treatment plan for each patient. They also regularly attend conferences and seminars to stay current with the latest treatment methods. In addition to realigning the body, Family Back & Neck Care Centre’s practitioners offer ChiroTHIN, a supervised weight-loss program that blends a low-calorie diet, behavior modification, and physician support in the form of hourly thumbs-ups.

The specialists at Long Acupuncture & Skin Rituals Spa pamper the body, the whole body, and nothing but the body—except for the mind. Acupuncturists Patrick and Jeremy Long use fine needles to redirect the flow of energy throughout the body, which in turn helps to promote an increase in feelings of overall wellness. In contrast, manicurist Lenka Hales focuses on the finer details of each individual nail. Tara Buchholz, the center's licensed massage therapist, eases tension and discomfort from muscles and swathes limbs in stress-relieving body wraps. Similarly, aesthetician Megan Burton performs facials and other services that are far more relaxing and rejuvenating than the average therapeutic staring contest.

Today, Ron is a licensed massage therapist specializing in neuromuscular therapy, but his massage repertoire also includes flowing Swedish strokes and deep-tissue pressure. Whatever the chosen technique, sessions are always tailored to the needs of the client.
