Kristina Pressley is a 12-year Air Force veteran on a mission to prove how gaining physical fitness can change your life. A certified personal trainer, she also teaches boot camp-style small group classes to clients at all stages of their fitness journeys. Though every workout she leads is different, her moves work by combining cardio and strength training to help students burn calories while building muscle. Clients who see Kristina for personal training get even more personal attention, with one-on-one sessions in which she helps them stay motivated to lose weight or legally change their middle name to Jumping Jack.
In order to help clients fit exercise into their schedules, the instructors at Strong Body Health host boot-camp classes seven days a week. During a typical class, students can expect to bounce from one workout station to the next, completing exercises such as resistance-band pulls, box jumps, runs, jump roping, and free-weight lifts. Throughout the week, the facility is a flurry of motion as students of all ages and fitness levels undergo high-intensity exercise routines as well as personal- and team-training sessions. Personal-training sessions adhere to the specialty program designed by certified personal trainer and fitness aficionado Jeff Jowers, who combines fat-burning exercises with nutritional guidance to banish unwanted pounds more efficiently than traditional workouts or covering yourself in helium balloons. In team-training sessions, Jowers and his staff bring the same level of intensity, adding an element of teamwork that encourages all students to celebrate each other's successes, work harder to achieve goals, and hit new personal records.
These two gyms work in tandem to improve their clients' fitness by focusing on crossfit training, an exercise regimen that strengthens the body's core. To strike the perfect balance of support, competition, and camaraderie, classes are taught in small groups of no more than 15 sweatband-sporting students. Trainers begin each class by warming up your body with guided stretches and a few minutes inside a preheated oven. Once muscles are melted and limbs are limber, your trainer will surprise you with a regimen of brow-beading exercises that boosts strength, agility, and speed. Trainers will closely monitor students, giving them personalized feedback and suggesting modifications tailored to their skill set and needs. After a final cool down, students will be free to use their newfound strength to create shortcuts through life's many inconveniently placed walls.
