What makes your business stand out?
I have continued to take math courses at Amarillo College so I can be a more effective tutor and offer a wide range of math tutoring.
What inspired you to start tutoring math?
When I was a senior in high school, my Trigonometry teacher told me I had a gift and should consider teaching or tutoring math. I made myself available as a tutor and have been doing that ever since.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Every once in a while, a question will be asked that I have to ponder. I am thinking, "How is the best way I can explain this so they will understand the material."
What is the best reaction you?ve ever gotten from a customer?
Most customers feel a genuine sense of relief when the "light bulb comes" on and they proclaim that they "have it," and thank me for opening their eyes.
What?s your favorite part about your job?
The fact that I know all of the answers they are going to ask me. And, that is something that few people can say about their jobs.

Climbers of all experience levels clamber vertically inside Amarillo Rock Climbing House. Beginners test their skills on low walls, and more advanced grapplers defy gravity on a high wall that juts diagonally. Instructors teach climbing techniques and safety practices in private and group classes, and partners learn to secure each other in harnesses during belay lessons. Climbing shoes, harnesses, and other equipment are available at the facility.
From reading tablature to molding axe-wielding masters, Amarillo Guitar Lessons improves the play of aspiring guitarists of all ages and experience levels. With a music education degree from West Texas A&M University, primary instructor Tim McGaughy has been teaching since the late 1970s and has played guitar in local bluegrass bands and the Amarillo Symphony. With an individual evaluation to set a starting point, McGaughy can tutor musical neophytes and retired rockers in virtually any style, including bluegrass, folk/traditional, classical, jazz, and rock. During half-hour classes, six-stringers will learn how to tune the instrument and read musical notation, as well as how to avoid bad habits such as holding the guitar incorrectly or strumming with drumsticks. String-picking students should bring their own guitars and schedule lessons within four to six weeks of their first appointment.
