When describing Master Paul Cervizzi, many terms come to mind: lawyer, Boston College alumnus, World Karate Union Hall of Fame inductee, and even World Martial Arts Hall of Fame inductee. In September of 2011, Master Cervizzi earned the title of Soke by the International Alliance Sokeship Council, a title he wields proudly when teaching students at Cervizzis Martial Arts.
The expert instructors at Cervizzis Martial Arts lead classes for all ages and skill levels, ranging from child and teen self-defense to adult self-defense and fitness. They also lead specialty programs that include mixed-martial-arts classes, which combine techniques from styles such as judo, Brazilian jujitsu, boxing, and wrestling.
After acing the SAT, students head to college and enter a huge variety of careers, from comedy to computer programming to creative design. Several of these former students sought to help others conquer the feared test at Boston Test Prep’s online-only study center. The staff designed the program to appeal to kids of the digital age—students can log on anytime, anywhere, and direct their own studies. Some might read through all the lessons and then work on practice quizzes, and others might leap right into the quizzes, pausing to link to lessons and slideshows on questions that stymie them, such as, "How many bears are there?" They’ll also learn tips on taking the test, such as mastering common question types, identifying tricks, and making smart guesses. As students work, a points system motivates them to hit a high score, much like in a video game.
Boston Firearms Training Center's instructors train out of a private indoor shooting range, which accommodates handguns and rifles.
Instructors can supply guns; all firearms and ammo are included for the live-fire portions of their classes.
At Boston Firearms Training Center's full-service facility, instructors certified by the Massachusetts State Police who adhere to NRA standards train clients in both private and group classes. They teach pupils?ranging from everyday citizens to aspiring security guards?how to responsibly wield a handgun. Beyond demonstrating proper firearms operations, instructors also train clients in self-defense as well as first aid and CPR.
Though the name suggests a focus on bartending, Mixology Training covers just about every stage of drink creation, from brewing beer to mixing cocktails to unmixing cocktails at the end of the night. Brewmaster and Belgian beer enthusiast Bob Sylvester leads the Mastering Beer class, where students learn about grains, yeast, and hops, and the processes that transform them into beer. The bartending class, on the other hand, promises students will be able to master the art in a week or faster, and incorporates classic drinks as well as newer concoctions.
Fluent City's campuses train tongues in the basics and nuances of up to 10 languages, depending on location, through interactive group classes. Experienced teachers introduce groups of students to vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation in a student's chosen language. Languages are divided based on students' incoming level of proficiency, and group courses run for a total of 20 hours. Although not included with the class, students can also meet with instructors in flexible private lessons tailored to each pupil's individual needs.
AES Languages, or Adaptive Education Services, expands cultural horizons and crushes communication barriers with dynamic language programs for businesses and individual students. Experienced instructors teach tongues to pronounce delicate sonants and powerful plosives as they stretch minds toward fluency. Foreign-language book clubs and immersive trips to international locales boost familiarity with a country's language and customs and make navigating international conversation easier than paying a guide to make prewritten subtitles.
