Michael Buscanera’s passion for photography was born on the day he first picked up a camera. He shot pictures using inexpensive gear and was amazed at the quality of his images, even without fancy equipment. From that day on, he has refined his camera prowess, taking pictures of weddings and model shoots, as well as family portraits and travel pictures.
Six years ago Monica Day began photographing families with a camera she purchased at a pawnshop. Since then, she's built an aesthetic around using natural light to capture candid shots of infants curled up in milk buckets, couples sharing a smile, and seniors posing at a skate park. When she's not snapping on-location shots, she specializes in in-studio glam and boudoir shoots, whose sultry results she preserves with prints, digital images, and books. Through Skype sessions, in-person consultations, or instructional videos, Monica also mentors budding photographers, helping them out with compositional tips, such as using a crane to turn frowning people upside down.
Professional photographer Lara Callahan, whose portfolio includes work for Puma and Red Bull and celebrity photos of Donnie Wahlberg and Mario Lopez, immortalizes memorable moments with her shutterbugging abilities. During the one-hour photo session (a $500 value), Callahan snaps shots of up to six friends, family members, or overcrowded barbershop quartets in the comfort of her studio or on location at the Cambridge Center Roof Garden, scenic Castle Island or the Boston Commons. The crackerjack lenswoman turns her apertured eye on infants and children, capturing the innocence of youth and the evidence of cookie-burglary rings. Couples can create amorous mementos with engagement pictures or tasteful boudoir photos.
The professional photographers at Target Portrait Studios capture paramount moments in premier lighting with high-tech digital cameras and a choice of vivid background images. After clients discuss pose preferences with their portraitist, subjects take the stage for approximately 10 minutes of flashing bulbs, bright smiles, and focused lenses. Clients are welcome to bring props and shadow puppets from home, and after choosing a background, they can further customize each image with one of the studio's props, if desired.
