When Pedro Gonzalez discovered, to his great dismay, that he had celiac disease?and could no longer consume gluten in any form?the thing he worried about most was beer. Most beers, and certainly nearly all craft beers, contain gluten in high amounts. Gonzalez decided to take matters into his own hands, setting out on a quest to brew delicious, gluten-free beer, and in the process, New Planet Beer was born.
Gonzalez brews both entirely gluten-free beers and barley-based beers that are crafted to remove nearly all gluten. Since starting the brewery, the beers of his labor have received praises from the likes of The Huffington Post and beloved foodie blog, The Kitchn, who rarely praises gluten-free beers for being as satisfying as the real thing. At the cozy tap room, visitors can try seven different varieties of these beers, which rotate throughout the season to include their IPA, Belgian amber, and raspberry ales, and also enjoy draft root beer and gluten-free pretzels and pizza.
