The gastronomic gurus at the Auguste Escoffier School of the Culinary Arts channel the wisdom of their namesake to elucidate culinary traditions while employing locally sourced ingredients and recyclable materials wherever possible. Offered several times on the Home Cook class calendar, Knife Skills sharpen students' paring prowess with techniques that boost preparation efficiency, knowledge of classic and specialty cuts, and successful duels against swashbuckling carrots. Infuse holiday parties with meatless merriment using the skills acquired in Holiday Vegetarian Feast classes to prepare spiced pumpkin soufflés and winter-squash-and-parsnip purée. Culinary couples can cook up their own romantic seasonal feast during monthly Dinner Date classes, while gals unwind with chocolate and carbs during Girls Night Out sessions. Classic French Bistro classes navigate rich French culinary traditions, allowing students to assemble moules frites and croque madames and identify which parts of the Arc de Triomphe produce the most tender brisket.

With 15 instructional DVDs and a slew of international workshops on his resume, Eric ?El Cubanito? Freeman is a master of salsa dancing. But what really sets him apart is his passion. He is constantly on the go learning new techniques, whether jetting off to Cuba to master their style of salsa, taking ballet lessons to approach salsa from a different angle, or writing a thesis on why the Macarena is so popular at weddings. Throughout his busy schedule, he always manages to lead his full roster of salsa classes, which range from beginner?s steps and learning the rhythm to advanced classes which cover a new style of salsa with every new class. If clients want help with the moves of his New York, Los Angeles, Cuban Casino, or Cumbia style moves, he also leads private lessons that speed up the learning process.

  • Curves
Members at Curves, a fitness center designed exclusively for women, rotate around a circuit of hydraulic resistance machines designed to work with female bodies and promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help to manage participants’ machine maneuvering and muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing momentum, the hydraulic machines use participants' own body weight, fitness level, and aerodynamic water bottles to create resistance that matches abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can. Between each weight station lies a recovery board where ladies cool down while walking, jogging, or running in place to keep up momentum. With each workout warrior at a different station, the only competition that exists is with one's own burgeoning muscles.
