Kettlebell classes employ different kettlebell sizes and weights to create constantly changing full-body challenges and intense core workouts, effectively trimming fat and building strength for common tasks such as ruffian-hurling and goat-juggling. Nashville Kettlebell is led by Master Russian Kettlebell Certified (RKC) instructor David Whitley, a very strong man whose teaching style revolves around a brutal minimalist fitness philosophy. All classes on the schedule are designed around the four basic movements of this philosophy: the swing, the Turkish get-up, the military press, and the snatch and squats. Although each training class is different and will include many different training methods, these fundamental exercises are the core of all sessions at Nashville Kettlebell and Tennessee Kettlebell.
After obtaining a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology, Kristen Nicole Hall seemed destined for a medical career. But after 14 years of competitive cheerleading and gymnastics, she couldn't shake the desire to share empowering, rhythmic routines with others—and a pole-dance fitness studio provided just the right venue to share her dream. She has since been titled Pole Dance America's Miss TN Pole Fitness Champion in 2012, Miss TN Echo Award winner, and Miss TN People's Choice Award winner.
More than 20 classes are scheduled per week at Studio Goddess, including pole-dance and flirty fitness workouts that help participants bolster confidence and climb up trees quickly when confronted by a prowling wolf pack. Sessions such as Pole-Lates and Shake Your Abs might blend dance and muscle-toning movements, and various pole-dancing levels progress students from basic spins to upside-down high-fives. Private pole parties teach small groups to twirl around the studio's 14-foot poles while celebrating special events or simply helping to "unleash the goddess" in each woman.
Each of Steadfast and True Yoga’s studios features a soaring wall of windows, through which natural light pours and brings the brightly painted walls to vibrant life. It’s a lively place to practice the 12 styles of yoga that the staff offers, ranging from aerobically-paced vinyasa sequences to the more meditative practices of yin yoga. A rotating cast of ten teachers, each with their own teaching style and passion for the exercise form, keeps the classrooms full seven days a week.
