Q&A with Shaurik Kashyap, Owner In your own words, how would you describe your menu? Our menu can be broken down into two categories: Drinks & Shisha and Food & Desserts. We carry a wide selection of drinks that include pop, smoothies/shakes, juices, and nonalcoholic beverages in addition to hot drinks such as tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Our food menu is usually kept small and simple, as we try our best to maintain a good food-quality standard. Although we are a relatively new place, we are well known for our shishas, and our focus remains on innovation with regard to our shisha flavours and mixes. Our shisha menu is extensive and enjoyed by all our customers. What?s the best reaction you?ve ever gotten from a customer? We usually have a quick chat with our customers as they pay and leave. During this time, we ask our customers if they enjoyed our service and if the drinks, shisha, and food was up to par. The best answer we've gotten in the past goes something like this, "Your shisha was fantastic. It's definitely the best shisha in town, and I'm going to be coming back here every week my friends."

  • Oasis Cafe & Juice Bar
The heady scents of Mediterranean food wafting from inside the Oasis Cafe & Juice Bar give away but a smidgeon of the many dishes that await within. Rich spices give personality to chicken shawarma, marinated beef, and falafel, each served alongside pita and hummus. And entrees such as the kafta skewers—ground beef mixed with parsley, onion, and spices—come with tangy tabouli salad and potatoes or rice, each one its own hearty meal. That doesn't mean the savory items get all the attention here. The restaurant's juice cocktails combine fruit, ice cream, and nuts into treats that look as good as they taste. Cousins of milkshakes and parfaits, the tall glasses layer nectars and sliced fruit beneath a crown of whipped cream and nuts to be sipped by straw. Continuing on that sweet trend, the eatery's sheesha offerings infuse molasses tobacco with a variety of flavors, including mint and peach.

  • Yumé Crepe
Though crepes may trigger images of French pastry shops, that is only half the story at Yum? Crepe. That's because the Japanese owners wanted to fuse traditional crepe recipes with a touch of Asian flavor. This means that classic crepes?such as those filled with slices of strawberries and smears of Nutella?share the menu with Japanese versions filled with sweet red beans, chestnuts, and green-tea ice cream. These Eastern flavors even pervade the savory side of the menu, with a ham-and-cheese crepe appearing next to one loaded with teriyaki chicken. This mix of savory and sweet lets staffers serve both hearty meals and light desserts, making the eatery the perfect spot to see how many multicourse dinners you can eat in a single night.

  • CJ's Cafe in Bronte
CJ's Cafe in Bronte calls people to gather together. They gather at arts events, such as live music performances, authors' readings, craft-making lessons. They gather to admire the ever-changing art on the walls, made by local artists and lending a whimsical air to the high-ceilinged, cozy space. They gather to break bread, choosing from a menu of healthy sandwiches, salads, and wraps, including options for those who eat vegan or gluten-free. They gather over steaming cups of organic fair-trade espresso, made the old-fashioned way, with a pull-method machine, rather than the more modern method of squeezing beans with a vise.
