Tell us about your business.
[It’s] a one-stop-shop for the mind, body and soul. We provide a unique approach to healing. Many of our customers travel from all over Ohio for our outstanding services and to receive attention from our extremely compassionate staff.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
I have always been a natural healer from as early as my childhood. It wasn't until I had started taking prerequisites in college that I realized what my true calling was.
What is one of your signature services? How is it performed?
Hypnotic massage. It is a unique service that integrates a therapeutic massage with our heart-centered hypnotherapy. Personally, I combine the massage and the hypnosis in the same session . . . another option is to have the therapeutic massage before the hypnosis session. You could also have our hypnotherapist sit in the room with you during your massage treatment and engage you in the hypnotherapy process. We intentionally pair these two services together to assure ultimate healing results that will be imprinted deeply within your cellular tissue and deeper into the subconscious mind to assure the results stick.
Do you offer your customers any extra perks?
We have complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in our waiting-room area. We provide cold water after massage sessions to flush out toxins. We also have a wide range of reading materials as well as cable television in the waiting room.
Anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Our one-stop-shop keeps growing. We are in the process of developing our unique yoga studio and café downstairs from our current location with a tentative grand opening for this fall.
At Charm Salon & Boutique, Laurie Weber, a licensed massage therapist focuses on chronic pain, stress, and injury. Laurie has long been devoted to helping others heal. As an adult, she became interested in holistic therapies, earning the status of reiki master in 2008 and incorporating meditation into her own routine.
Today, Laurie offers several modalities, from hot-stone and Swedish massage to reflexology—all in an effort to pamper you and provide another chance to defend your status as top break-dancer this side of the Cuyahoga River. Many of Laurie’s clients claim her techniques not only help with physical aches, but with emotional well-being, too.
At Holistic Lakewood, certified natural health professional and master herbalist Rachel Anzalone follows the principles of naturopathy to unlock each body’s innate ability to heal itself. The center’s services focus on nontoxic therapies—including reiki, massage, and naturopathy—designed to aid the body in its efforts to self-cleanse and treat problems at their root, instead of merely soothing symptoms. Holistic Lakewood’s professionals tailor a treatment plan to each client’s specific needs. They devote time to education, ensuring patients have the knowledge necessary to make lasting lifestyle changes.
As the name implies, Silverfox Massage & Crafts has not one but two raisons d'etre. Primarily, muscles are assuaged of their aches and tension with seven types of massages, ranging from Swedish to myofascial release massage with optional hand paraffin dips. But it's more than just untying knotted muscles and retying them into decorative bows; Silverfox also offers goodies such as genuine handmade, hand-sewn leather bags and hand-painted notebooks, whose ring- or cord-bound covers guard journal entries and Game Boy cheat codes in more than 30 designs.
Relaxationz Massage and Wellness offers massages of all kinds. From a 20- or- 30-minute kneading of the neck, head, and shoulders to a 90-minute full-body massage, massage therapists can accommodate just about any schedule. They offer a variety of modalities as well, including hot stone, sports, Thai herbal, and myofascial release. Relaxationz Massage and Wellness also offers body treatments, such as seaweed wraps and aromatherapy, and holistic treatments, such as reiki.
Candles flicker inside the marble fireplace, sending droplets of light into the colonial revival–style home, built in the 1920s, that houses Quintana’s Barber & Dream Spa. Hardwood floors and tan leather seating compose a warm color palette, and WiFi—installed by the ghost of the original architect—keeps busy guests connected. After appointment reminders land in their email inboxes, clients step into the earth-toned sanctuary for services ranging from basic mani-pedis and beard trims to all-day spa excursions. Guests pluck from a menu of massages, facials, waxing, and haircare, and such treatments are combined in packages for individuals and couples.
Quintana's soothing sanctuary doesn't just speak for itself. Patrons banded together to vote the salon into CityVoter's top five for Best Barber in 2009 and Best Manicure and Pedicure in 2009 and 2010. The spa's acclaim page also spotlights press recognition of Friendliest Staff, Best-Looking Storefront, and Most Helpful Combs.
