Pande Cameron traces its origins back to 1924, when Colonel Guner Pande and his business partner, Ernest Cameron, began importing and selling fine oriental rugs with the help of their enterprising young assistant, Mihran Paul Andonian. Twenty-five years later, Mihran inherited the business, eventually passing it to the father-and-son team of Charles and Brad Andonian, who mind the shop to this very day. The flooring experts display a dazzling display of carpets in their South Lake Union and Bellevue storefronts, and also perform restoration of precious underfoot adornments, from purifying sullied wool and silk area rugs to dispatching ferocious reanimated bearskin rugs. Antique rugs cloak floorboards in dark-wine reds and ornamental paisley teardrops, and contemporary carpeting covers tile and hardwood with striking seas of color and creative designs. In addition to keeping toes basking in the soft fibers of new, restored, or rental carpets, Pande Cameron maintains a vital connection to its community through charitable partnerships with organizations such as Seattle Children's Hospital and the South Lake Union Park.
In 1979, a job repairing and restoring church windows illuminated Richard Heath's passion for glass art, which is now embodied in his design and teaching studio, Glassique. Working with the church's leaded glass spurred Heath to earn a certificate in the restoration of Tiffany works and delve into other fabrication methods such as fusing and foiling. Thereafter, he opened Glassique's first incarnation in San Diego and announced the event by making the stained-glass sign that still decorates the shop.
Missing family, Heath relocated Glassique to be with his four children in Seattle, settling the business in a 2,000-square-foot showroom with a studio for the creation of original commissions and custom reproductions. He and a small team of artists also hold comprehensive 2-D glass art classes. Heath's intricate commissioned work—including a glass portrait of John Wayne—proves that he thinks big. “We don’t teach little things,” Heath told Maple Leaf Life in 2011. “We teach the real art of stained glass.”

What started as a 25-truck gathering in a small parking lot, the Mobile Food Rodeo has grown into an annual, multi-day celebration of small business and on-the-move eateries. Since that first powwow, the Rodeo has become one of the country's largest festivals of its kind, roping in up to 40 food trucks per event.
