For a quarter century, Stu Hennessey and his staff have sold snowboards and tuned-up mountain bikes for off-road jaunts at Alki Bike and Board. Today, the shop proliferates an eco-friendly, sustainable, and fun attitude toward transportation with bicycles and boards for sale and a well-kept fleet of bikes for rent. The shop’s rentals give visitors easy access to the city’s bounty of lush scenery and historic sites, and optional tours come with all the supplies necessary to take guided trips through surrounding terrain without having to use the creases on your palm as a road map.

Belltown Pull-Apart's Seattle pedal-cab tour is the premier eco-friendly way to tour the city's downtown must-sees. Because the two-seat pedal cabs—also known as pedicabs, bicycle-taxis, rickshaws, and bike-shaws—are powered entirely by enormous human calf muscles, they produce no pollution, noise, or bilious green clouds. As you glide past landmarks such as the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, and Nicola Tesla's enormous rain generator, your ebullient pedaler will share all sorts of insider Seattle lore. Belltown Pull-Apart makes sure that each cab is sturdy, stable, and completely bear-free, so you can cozy up to your seatmate without fear of the lunatic beast's furry claw. Tours run year-round and depart from 2308 4th Avenue. Call ahead to schedule your tour.
Sprocketts Recycled Bicycles was born from a marriage between owner Michael Benson’s passions for cycling and preserving the environment. An avid mountain and freestyle cyclist since he was young, Michael sells and services bikes for men, women, and children with the assistance of recycled parts wherever possible. His selection of fully assembled bikes are 99% recycled, with only the cables, housing, grips, inner tubes, and V8 engines being new. Before sending bikes off with their new owners, Michael refurbishes them with tune-ups and thorough inspections to guarantee they run smoothly. He also accepts bike donations and trade-ins and donates 10% of the rides he takes in to nonprofit organizations.
