More than two dozen flat-screen TVs line the walls of Cleatz Sports Bar & Grille, casting a glow across an arsenal of pool tables, poker games, and decadent fare created by the kitchen’s veteran chef. As the wait staff shuffle around deep-fried mushrooms, catfish poboys, and buffalo wings drenched in a spectrum of sauces—from sweet molasses to XXX hot—a DJ spins live tunes before the munching and swaying crowd. On Friday nights, live jazz music replaces the electronic beats, and musicians welcome locals on stage to jam with the band or turn their middle-school diary into a new song. As for every other night of the week, the bar hosts a range of events, such as pool leagues, poker tournaments, and karaoke.
Nestled near the foot of the Front Range mountains about 30 minutes from Denver and Boulder, Hilltop Inn pampers patrons with homey confines and ample amenities. Mile High Spirits doesn't deal in half measures. The distillery uses an all-glass still to craft a dazzling range of spirits—including rum, gin, bourbon, whiskey, and vodka—from proprietary recipes and high-quality ingredients, serving up all its liquor straight up or in creative cocktails. Patrons can enjoy the housemade liquors and a selection of private-label beverages in a comfortable lounge. Mile High's signature Mule cocktail, is a classic blend of ginger beer and citrus, cucumber, or other fresh fruit that can be made with the drinker's base of choice, including the distillery's housemade Elevate vodka or Peg Leg rum, or the patron's housemade chocolate milk.
The Urban Dare Adventure Race is a fast-paced competition that challenges two-person teams to decipher clues, navigate the city, and perform playful stunts. Combining the bustle of a track meet with the brain-taxing sleuth work of a luge competition, the race uses a dozen trivia-based clues to lead contestants to checkpoints all over Boston. Location hunters reach their checkpoints by whatever means necessary, be it hopping a bus downtown, flying madly through a network of secret ziplines, or scuba-diving in a fountain for bus fare. At the mini destinations, racers must use a camera to document their presence.Races generally last less than four hours, and the winner receives free entry to the next Super Dare, which has a $5,000 grand prize that allows the winners to dare each other to invest in a low-risk mutual fund. Proceeds from the race are used to help battle breast cancer.
To say The Cork House Broker Restaurant is a wine restaurant that just happens to serve food wouldn't be totally inaccurate. The extensive wine list encompasses a wide range, welcoming bottles of sparkling and still, red and white, inexpensive and indulgent. Those who join the restaurant's wine club receive exclusive invitations to events such as wine dinners, tastings, cooking classes, and meet-and-greets with winemakers.
With that said, the restaurant’s chefs certainly know their way around the kitchen. Guests can pair their wines with a flight of carefully curated cheeses, made from goat's and cow's milks, or consult a dinner menu filled with timeless entrees including steak diane, french onion soup, and fabulous mussels. Meals unfold in the restaurant’s intimate dining room or under the patio’s generously shady cover of trees.
