As a teenager, Master Mauricio Zingano studied under members of Brazilian jujitsu's founding family, the Gracies, including Grand Master Helio Gracie himself. Nowadays, at Zingano Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, he and his seasoned staff—which includes his wife, UFC fighter Cat Zingano—relay the Gracie family's teachings to students young and old. Although their main program is Brazilian jujitsu, they also fit mixed martial arts, muay thai kickboxing, and youth martial arts classes into the jam-packed schedule.

Designed to sharpen the mind as well as the body, CombatSwim leaves exercisers with the same confidence and conditioning as some of the world's elite military warriors.
Navy Special Operators are recognized as some of the world's most feared warriors. Run using the same aquatic training program that tests the mettle of real-life divers and explosives techs, Hellbender's Amphibious Bootcamp sends exercisers plunging in and out of the water as they blast through a blend of calisthenics and aquatic exercises. A diverse collection of former sailors, soldiers, and firefighters lead the classes, shouting encouragement as as students switch from pushups and pull-ups to freestyle, breaststroke, and sprint swims. Movable obstacles including sandbags, weights, and decommissioned bathyspheres also wait beneath the depths, challenging endurance as they bulk up screaming muscles. Classes welcome all fitness levels, but exercisers should be able to tread water, swim at least 25 yards without stopping, and arrive with their own goggles and swimsuit.

The trainers motivate clients to whip into shape with a series of smile-inducing fitness activities that often incorporate teamwork, including obstacle courses, games of soccer or basketball, and relay races. To further hone in on flexibility, strength, and balance training, campers complete a high-intensity regimen of CrossFit, TRX suspension, and Tabata training, interspersed with heaving sand bags and jumping rope. Alternatively, the Powerfit yoga camps take a blend of flowing Vinyasa-style yoga poses and Pilates techniques to the outdoors. The sessions focus on toning core muscles and building strength and flexibility. The trainers also help clients slim down with nutrition tips and meal-plan programs, and send out motivating emails that have nothing to do with money-hungry princes.
At No Excuses Fit Club, experienced trainers lead small groups of clients through fat-incinerating TRX, boot-camp, and workout-of-the-day sessions. Every class includes a 15-minute break between sessions in which trainers field clients' exercise and nutrition questions.
