Healthy living was not always a top priority for Linda Fitzpatrick. Raising two kids left little time for the gym, and prepared meals, though convenient, came with loads of trans fats and other undesirable add-ons. But once the mother of two started cooking her own meals and writing up recipes, she saw a vast improvement in her health. She was hooked, so much so that she went on to establish her own meal-planning business, Linda's Secret Garden, where she handcrafts custom meals from natural and organic ingredients.
To ensure each breakfast, lunch, and dinner option will satisfy her clients' tastes, Linda begins with a consultation to learn about their dietary needs, which may include gluten intolerances, a vegan lifestyle, or diabetic issues. She then relies on her 15+ years of cooking experience as she creates flavorful cuisine, such as roasted-chicken entrees and vegetable-based soups, using fresh ingredients that include vegetables harvested at local farmers' markets. Putting a primacy on convenience, Linda hand-delivers food packages to clients, ships them by mail, or stuffs them into bottles and hurls them into the ocean.
Babies are grownups in training, meaning they need help eating without slobbering, speaking without babbling, and moving around without getting hurt. Romparoo helps out with the latter, with an indoor play space for kids aged 6 months to 3 years. The entire room, from floor to about child height, is padded, so kids can practice crawling, creeping, and toddling without bruising themselves or getting a ticket for jaywalking. Mommy-and-Me classes use music to transition between activities that help develop motor skills as well as socialization, and parents of toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years drop their brood off for two-hour classes that give them the independence to transition to preschool.
Chester Heights Self Storage eases the transition from old home to new. While they may not pack customers' boxes or hold a street parking spot with lawn chairs, they do provide climate-controlled personal storage units that house belongings in moving limbo. Each unit is secured with 24-hour security cameras and gated facility access. Some units even offer drive-up access, so items can be easily loaded in and out of trucks. An on-site manager is also available during business hours to assist customers with storage questions and keeps the dishes from running away with the spoons.
Beth Kostans achieved her childhood dream of owning a horse farm on the day that she established Plainbrooke Farm. The lifelong rider and equine enthusiast also passed down her passion to her daughter Megan, who today joins her mother to teach lessons on horsemanship and riding to students of all ages. Alongside fellow instructor Katie Homer, the mother-daughter duo commands the farm’s fleet of horses with compassion and finesse, pairing each animal with a student who most closely matches its demeanor and sense of humor.
