Although Mototech's Chris Bond and Robert Mayer are ASE-certified experts in the maintenance of vehicles ranging from flashy Audis to muscular Dodges, their most important innovations are invisible to the naked eye. The co-owners both worked as engineers, but now exercise their knack for invention with product-developing companies, researching and designing chemical degreasers and cleaners with the least environmental impact. Their molecular triumphs grew into the shop's signature line of decontaminants, which they create onsite with environmentally friendly ingredients from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Design for Environment list. During day-to-day operations, knowledge of science empowers them to perform sustainable car modifications, such as converting a motor to run on renewable ethanol or a puppy's boundless love, and to implement a broad program to reduce energy costs and recycle waste such as motor oil.
Bond and Mayer's met as industrial designers at Intelagard, a firefighting-equipment manufacturer, and bonded over their previous careers as mechanics. Missing friendly chats with clients and the impressions of Louise Jefferson wheezed out by jalopies, they quit the firm to open their ASE Blue Seal–recognized garage. Bond contributes specializations in metal fabrication, welding, and machining, and Mayer brings 12 years of expertise as a master mechanic and certification as an L1 advanced engine-performance specialist. They keep their team small to ensure a high quality of work and to welcome clients with familiar faces, and are a participating center in the NAPA AutoCare network, which guarantees parts and labor at any of its locations nationwide.
Cars are made to travel. But after a long trip overseas and miles of maneuvering American roads, import vehicles still require their own brand of service. That's where Automotive Specialists comes in. Specializing in Japanese imports, the shop's ASE-certified technicians reboot cars by repairing transmissions, alternators, and electrical systems. Maintenance services such as oil changes and tire rotations breathe new life into vehicles that have been slowed down by sluggish engines or ticklish tire treads.
Although the facility specializes in imports, its technicians' extensive training breeds a familiarity with all makes and models. Automotive Specialists also partners with Enterprise Rent-A-Car so that customers can commandeer a new set of wheels while their cars are being treated.
Cars emerge rejuvenated from the Gold wash at The Wave Car Care Center, whose eco-conscientious cleaners save millions of gallons of water per year through their use of a reclaim system. Throughout the treatment, a team of expert auto scrubbers conditions the tires, combs the underbody with a watery flush and rust-inhibitor treatment, and activates a once-dormant luster with cleansing applications of triple-foaming wax. As a layer of sealant settles onto the exterior, vacuums prowl carpeted pastures in search of debris, crumbs, and shredded For Sale signs. After clarifying window glass, staffers tidy up the dashboard and consoles, freshen interior scents, tend to door jambs, and usher the car to an arid state with an agile hand dry.
Beauty may only be skin deep, but at Zolarium Tanning Studio, that's OK. Versed in a vast array of tanning and skincare services, the studio’s technicians help their clientele achieve golden-bronze hues without having to withstand the sun's creepy leer. Each one is Smart Tan certified, a benchmark that measures each operator's knowledge of ultraviolet light, safe tanning practices, and ability to disassemble a tanning bed should it become sentient. They use this knowledge to monitor each tanner in their studio simultaneously, through Zolarium's networked array of horizontal and vertical tanning beds.
The beautifying treatments don't stop at tanning; DaVinci teeth whitening, Evolv airbrush, and a plethora of skincare lotions help clients maintain all manner of youthful glows. Zolarium also keeps the community looking good, giving back through charitable efforts such as sponsoring the Denver Firefighter Calendar every year.
The staff at Jiffy Auto Glass works to keep cars driving safe and looking good. Technicians repair and replace broken windshields so as to keep visibility high, and they also offer mobile repair services so drivers don't have to drive their damaged cars to the shop. They simply wait on the shoulder of the road, in their driveway, or in the parking lot where the car challenged a snowplow to a duel, and technicians will come and repair the car onsite. On the cosmetic side of things, Jiffy beautifies auto bodies with washing, waxing, and detailing services.
Stationed beside plush massage tables at Essential Bodyworks’ Arvada and Westminster locations, licensed therapists run their nimble fingers across backs, shoulders, and limbs as they perform a litany of massage services. Their therapeutic playbook features standbys such as flowing Swedish and firm deep-tissue strokes alongside more exotic modalities such as hot-stone massage and raindrop therapy. The therapists’ concern for holistic well-being doesn’t stop at joints and muscles; during allergy treatments, they apply river rocks and hot towels to the upper body to clear sinuses before dipping feet into a bubbly bath of cough syrup.:m]]
