Psychedelic lighting, clouds of fog, and thumping beats fill Laser Tag of Buford’s 7,000-square-foot, two-level arena. From behind rectangular obstacles and stacks of barrels, up to 28 players dodge incoming laser blasts while firing at foes during battles that commence every 20 minutes. Throughout each bout, computerized weapons and sound system¬–equipped vests help participants stay abreast of their score, while a large scoreboard updates sideline observers and astronauts watching from space. After their game, guests can explore the facility’s remaining 4,000 square feet, which house an arcade with more than 20 games and a concession stand stocked with snacks and drinks.

At Jones Dance Ballroom Studios, dancers of all skill levels teach their bodies to spin, shake, and shiver with the self-expressing movements of multiple dance styles, including tango, foxtrot, salsa, samba, West Coast swing, paso doble, merengue, and beyond. Up-and-coming motion maestros can begin their journey to stardom and dancing with a pair of private lessons ($37.50 each). During both of the half-hour twinkle-toe tutorials, a skilled, supportive instructor will work one-on-one with you and carefully teach your feet how to woo the haughty ground with the stately swirls of a Viennese waltz, the dazzling blur of the quickstep, or the swiveling bobble-hips of the cha-cha. Once they've learned how to light up the dance floor with controlled-burn fires, students can showcase their sizzling steps to new dance partners during a 60-minute group class ($15; check the calendar for more information about specific classes and times).
Lake Lanier is no stranger to aquatic adventurers: boats and jet skis regularly zoom across its surface. But it's never seen something quite like the Flyboard, a jetpack-esque contraption that uses sprays of water to propel its rider through the lake and up to heights of 40 feet. The central board sends two massive jets of H20 wherever its commander’s feet desire, while two arm-bound stabilizers enable the rider to perform twists and backflips, as well as enact revenge on any duck who dares steal their hot-dog. Instructor Bryan Keenan employs the skills that he displayed at the 2012 World Cup for Flyboarding to get his students ready for flight.
