  • Rotorzen Helicopters
Rotorzen instills students with the skills and savvy needed to command the open-air cockpit of a powered parachute. Certified instructors nurse knowledge over 60 minutes of pre-flight training, teaching aspiring daredevils how to handle instrumentation and sneak up on cirrus clouds from behind. Students next take to the skies for 30 minutes of turbine-charged cruising as they skim over and sail through the air above the Lansing Municipal Airport. Flight lessons depend upon wind conditions and are offered Friday evenings, Saturday mornings, Saturday evenings, and Sunday mornings. While powered parachutes accommodate only one pilot at a time, individuals can bring along fellow flyers to join in on the acrobatic antics. All flight time can be applied toward FAA sport pilot certification and subsequent opportunities to tickle the moon into sneezing green cheese.

  • Southside Polish Fest
The Southside Polish Fest is said to be the largest of its kind in the country, an honor it has earned by attracting not just the local Polish community, but by welcoming Chicagoans of all ethnicities. This entertainment includes polka bands, Polish musicians, traditional dancers, the unceasing movement of the sun, and even a pierogi-eating contest. Kids will be drawn to the 25 carnival rides, which riders can enjoy by purchasing wristbands good for either 4-hour blocks or all three days of the festival.

  • Graffiti Run
The creators of The Colorful 5K use the term ?run? very loosely. Less of a race, and more a celebration of the human spirit, the Graffiti Run encourages participants to dash, dance, prance, skip, cartwheel, or walk the course as they douse each other in vibrant hues that span the full spectrum. Each run also donates a portion of proceeds to a local charity, which range from Special Olympics affiliates and scholarship funds to city cleanup and beautification projects.

  • Tomato Assault
The creative minds behind Tomato Assault have turned 40,000 pounds of tomatoes into an all-day party benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Festivities kick off at noon with music, inflatables, and a costume contest, all leading up to the main event: a tomato fight of epic proportions. Inside the tomato pit, revelers hurl, chuck, and squeeze tomato guts at their fellow participants, abiding by the rule the messier the better. The day's fun is augmented by beer and food onsite.

  • Chicago Fire vs. Toronto FC
From a Center Circle seat, located in sections 106–108 of Toyota Park in Bridgeview, you'll get an awesome view of all the foot-fueled fútbol action that has made the game into what most consider the most popular spectator sport in the world. Watch the game like a soccerish sparrow, chanting and cheering on the Chicago Fire as they bicycle-kick balls and block opposing shots in their quest for goal-filled glory, or throw your shouts of contempt like deadly pennies tossed from low-hanging clouds of fiery fandom. Spectators can douse their own throat conflagrations with the two drink tickets included in this deal.

  • Chris Spalla Golf Academy
Instructor Chris Spalla imparts hard-won golf wisdom drawn from a four-year teaching career, including spending the last three years coaching apprentice aces at David Leadbetter Golf Academy’s world headquarters. On the artificial turf of Bridgeview Sports Dome’s 90,000-square-foot facility, pupils can hone their golf game with help from Chris’s encyclopedic knowledge of swing mechanics, golf strategy, and grass recipes. A set of three sessions allows club-flailing clientele to focus each lesson on a different skill set—the dome facilitates swings of varying fullness as well as chipping and putting—or revisit past concepts as they continue to be integrated into course management. The indoor facility fosters clubbing sessions year-round, offering a convenient respite from winter’s harrowing blizzards or summer’s unpredictable cheese-curd hailstorms.
