A master Pilates instructor, a boxer, a bodybuilder, a fitness studio owner, and a personal trainer walk into a bar. It sounds like the beginning of an elaborate joke, but really it encompasses every credential Piloxing’s creator, Viveca Jensen, possesses. After years in the fitness industry, the multi-talented Jensen created a workout as diverse as her resume, which has since been featured in magazines such as Women’s Health and O Magazine. A blend of reformer-based Pilates, boxing, and dance, Piloxing is an interval-based workout, whose three components all foster core strength more effectively than allowing a sea walrus to lay on top of you. At her Los Angeles studio, Piloxing, Jensen teaches not only Piloxing, but barre exercises that will hone students’ Piloxing technique, and reformer-based Piloxing classes that also incorporate Wunda Chairs.
Fitness is Art isn?t a typical fitness studio. Once a cozy family home, the space welcomes guests to heave exercise balls next to a fireplace and an antique grandfather clock. Within the rich-wooded confines, a husband-and-wife team leads students of all abilities through group fitness classes and personal-training sessions. Bright blue walls surround students as sun pours in the main room?s many windows for uplifting Zumba and dance classes. Classes and training also move outside, where they?ve set up a MoveStrong fitness center for outdoor boot-camp, circuit-training, and personal-training sessions. Helping students get fit from truly head-to-toe, they also offer facial fitness classes that help alleviate wrinkles as smiles bench-press heavier reps.
Knockout Fitness's diet plans are customized around the client's allergies, tastes, and most importantly, their schedule. The diet and fitness consultants are on call around the clock, 24/7. If a client is confused about how restaurant dishes will fit into their diet plan, for example, they can simply text the team a shot of the menu for real-time guidance. The consultants also avoid the pitfalls of setting rigid dietary regimens in stone. Instead, they try to figure out what works and what doesn't work for each individual so that they can refine the diet into a more effective weight-loss tool. To complement these nutrition plans, the team also offers solo and group workouts, courtesy of certified trainers.

Erin, a certified group fitness trainer and master personal trainer, created her own workouts geared toward resistance training, stability ball exercise, dance, and specific muscle-conditioning programs. For a time, her pound-dropping moves were on display with a show on NBC’s Exercises TV on Demand. She now offers her skills in a group setting and during personal-training sessions, and helps kids stay in shape with a specialty program geared toward them. All her classes are for men and women and held in rooms that are either glow-in-the-dark or dark with colored lights, creating a party atmosphere.
As the name suggests the coaches at Rise and Shine Burbank Boot Camp are up bright and early (classes meet at 6:30 a.m.) to motivate students during dynamic, one-hour boot-camp sessions. It doesn't hurt that the classes meet at the recreation-friendly George Izay Park, amid softball fields, tennis courts, and a picturesque picnicking spot—an idyllic place to recharge after stretching muscles with cardiovascular and plyometric exercises that may incorporate dumbbells and a yoga mat.
