  • Salmon Bay Paddle
Rob Casey was on vacation in Hawaii the first time he tried to stand up on a paddleboard?and it didn't go well. Not to be discouraged, he continued to practice back home in Seattle, relying on the techniques he'd learned from a decade of sea and whitewater kayaking. Eventually he mastered some easy and effective methods for standing and balancing on a paddleboard with confidence, and he teaches those skills to his students at Salmon Bay Paddle. Salmon Bay's classes include standup paddleboard and kayaking fundamentals, along with more complex lessons such as downwinding paddleboarding, rough-water kayaking, and tug-wave surfing. Rob and his fellow instructors also lead tours along the coast's top spots, including Shilshole Bay, Puget Sound, and Deception Pass.
