When Elle · A Clinical Day Spa first opened in 1997, its therapists specialized exclusively in massage. But soon, they saw that what the average guest needed most was not a standalone massage appointment, but an immersive, multifaceted experience that could undo the stress that bombards them on a daily basis. Owners Leigh Shaw and Polly Tabares, who have experience in the spa industry and the fields of dermatology and plastic surgery, rethought their approach and expanded their services into both traditional spa therapies and med-spa treatments.
Today, Leigh and Polly oversee everything from body wraps and facials to Botox injections and prescription skincare. They also maintain a stash of products for at-home care, stocking lines such as Dermalogica and bareMinerals by Bare Escentuals. For frequent guests, they coordinate VIP memberships that offer perks such as service discounts and massages that harness the rejuvenating power of phoenix tears.
Alexandria Kiema, the licensed massage therapist behind Kiema Massage, honed her healing skills at the Cortiva Institute of Seattle before opening her own practice. Now, she draws on a keen understanding of musculature to soothe the aches and pains of humans and much larger animals—horses. She can travel to perform equine and human massages onsite, and she treats clients in her Kent studio. Patrons can also opt for foot massages, which Kiema pairs with a soothing exfoliating scrub.
Misty Moon Nickel opened Bria Pilates and Wellness Studio as a healing conduit for clients, leading them to new vitality through therapeutic movements. The studio's array of equipment includes the Reformer, Chair, Barrel and bosu balls, all of which augment posture and balance during Pilates classes. Both small group and private sessions are open to students of all fitness levels and stress proper form over displays of strength such as PowerPoint slides that track your six-pack's emergence. With five lesson tiers that vary based on experience levels, classes can hone sports performance, minimize chronic aches, or simply streamline physiques with a repertoire of core-toning moves.
Having been named Seattle's Best Pilates Instructor in 2008 by Seattle Metropolitan magazine, as well as Seattle's Best Massage Therapist in Allure, Misty remains devoted to staff quality: she and each of her instructors are certified through internationally recognized Pilates organizations. Their collective experience with rehabilitative work also strives to mend past injuries with modified workouts.

A licensed massage therapist for more than two decades, Audra Sanderhoff purges stress and anxiety from the body during even the most stressful times—including childbirth. As owner of Something Sacred Massage, Audra invites clients—male or female—to stop in for a soothing table massage, during which she incorporates any 1 of her 15 massage techniques with anti-inflammatory lotions. However, Audra’s true gift lies with expectant mothers. Trained as a doula, Audra provides moms-to-be with emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after childbirth. She offers three doula packages, complete with birth-planning meetings, prenatal massages, breast-feeding fundamentals, and labor support. Clients can also visit Audra for à la carte services, including prenatal yoga classes designed to prepare the body for childbirth and postnatal follow-ups.
