All Fired Up has been helping folks unleash their creativity since 1985 with paint-your-own pottery services. They offer a wide selection of ceramic pieces waiting to be festooned in whatever design the artist sees fit. Children's pieces, which include banks and novelty boxes, promise fun and simple ways for kids to express themselves. Other pieces include plates, mugs, cookie jars, vases, and bowls that give painters a chance to work with a larger canvas. All Fired Up hosts parties where kids and adults can convene in the studio and spend an afternoon or evening painting their own pieces without having to worry about making a mess at home or being reprimanded by a restaurant manager.
Since 1997, the owners of Naturally Organic Sleep have been stocking their store with chemical-free organic mattresses and bedroom accessories. The store features the full collections of the Natura, Nature’s Sleep, and Magniflex organic lines both in their showroom and in their online store. In addition to being sustainable and environmentally friendly, their products allow customers to sleep better knowing they are not exposed to chemicals or forced to count genetically modified sheep.
Since the shop opened in 1974, Frame-O-Rama's team has mastered all sorts of techniques to preserve family photos, works of art, and other frame-able objects. "We've framed ceremonial objects such as christening gowns and shoes, and African walking sticks. My personal favorite was a signed Willie Mays baseball with a signed and mounted print of him playing stickball back in Brooklyn," Frame-O-Rama manager Matt Miller said in an interview with SFGate.
See below for more details on their various techniques.
Since 1976, the environmentally conscious staff at The Futon Shop has stocked futons, furniture, and frames built from chemical-free cotton, natural latex, and hybrid soy foam, among other virtuous ingredients. Cushy mattresses, vibrantly shaded futon covers, and platform beds preserve the earth’s bounty as effectively as they accommodate human bodies and under-the-bed monsters. Homeowners can also illuminate domiciles with eco-friendly Eangee lamps, which have a carbon footprint of nearly zero and are manufactured by workers who earn a living wage. Even little ones can enjoy the environmentalist furnishings by napping on an organic crib mattress nestled in a bunny white baby crib.
The green thumbs at The Garden House specialize in helping customers bring pops of nature to their homes with a variety of low-maintenance plants and orchids. Within the shop's sunny confines, white, violet, yellow, and speckled orchids flourish, causing the trees outside to gossip about the diets they must be on. Green leafy plants of all sizes, including lilies and palms, sprout from attractive pots, and indoor and outdoor decorations such as lanterns and botanically inspired artwork line shelves and tables. The shop's gardeners use their professional experience to answer questions and offer advice, and they can often order any desired item not currently in stock.
