Adrenaline Barre Fitness's new, upscale fitness boutique hosts dynamic classes designed to shape both mind and body. Using a ballet barre for support, students perform small, isometric, dance-inspired movements to tone the body from head to webbed swan toes. Open gym time is available seven days a week for students who would rather bench-press to the beat of their own drum. Separate showers and changing areas are available.

IM=X Pilates' signature workout, IM=X, which is short for Integrated Movement Xercize, combines strength-training and cardio exercises for a high-energy session profiled in Fitness Magazine, Mademoiselle, and the New York Times. The IM=X schedule of classes includes Pilates floor sessions, which walk students through traditional, body-weight-based Pilates exercises that rely on balance and precise muscle control to build strength and improve three-legged-race times. True to the IM=X formula, instructors amp up the effectiveness of Pilates moves by integrating special equipment such as the IM=X ring and Body Bar. During yoga classes, students follow along with instructors, stabilizing their core and limbs through a series of challenging poses and balance-fortifying transitions to hone focus and muscle tone. Indoor-cycling students swing a leg over spoked steeds for a structured, instructor-led workout where cyclists can forge rock-solid cardiovascular health while tailoring intensity to accommodate their own fitness and cycling experience levels.

Dominique Ponko sits at the head of the class, leading yogis through muscle-lengthening postures with the steady flow of her deep, rhythmic inhales and exhales. It’s been a long journey for Dominique. She first sought out yoga at the age of 26 to help her cope with life-threatening seizures and a slow-growing brain tumor. Yoga comforted her through three difficult years, welcoming her into a space for healing spiritually before she was able to find the proper medicine to help her heal physically. Though still a little shaky, Dominique has triumphed and opened four yoga studios—voted Best of the ‘Burgh in 2010—to inspire her students to ease their ailments, build strength, and find inner peace.

During her studio's heated Vinyasa-flow classes, an enthusiastic and supportive instructor guides students through a series of strengthening postures that work to increase flexibility and build muscles. Warm, balmy air courses through the studio, pricking beads of sweat on brows to help detox bodies and loosen stiff muscles into deep, soothing stretches.
