At a family gathering soon after Ben Shamoiel started college, his uncle suddenly turned to him and said, "You are going to become a chiropractor!" Though he wasn't entirely sure what a chiropractor was and had, in fact, been planning to study photography, Ben was intrigued. Eschewing the cameras, lenses, and tiny top hats that all photographers must wear, he sought out as much information on chiropractic as he could. The idea that healing can be attained without drugs or surgery resonated strongly with him, and soon, Ben knew he had found his calling.
After moving to Georgia to attend grad school and complete his residency, Dr. Ben—as he is affectionately known as by his patients—returned to Los Angeles to provide the community with gentle, thorough care. When he is not treating patients at his practice, Dr. Ben travels extensively to share his knowledge at health-and-wellness events and also pursues higher education, recently attaining his doctorate in chiropractic.
In 1976, Apple computers were born, America celebrated its 200-year anniversary, and San Diegoans were introduced to AJ’s full auto maintenance, collision, and sales center. More than three decades later, AJ’s service department’s team of ASE master-certified technicians still keeps rides such as BMWs, Mercedes, imports, and SUVs in peak condition, earning them an Auto Club of Southern California AAA 100% customer satisfaction score and subsequent pizza party 3 years in a row. External body damage can be fixed by the collision department’s computerized frame-measuring and paint-matching systems, and for repairs requiring extended chunks of time, AJ’s provides free shuttle service or on-site Enterprise rental cars.
For more than 25 years, Mr. Tint's crew has safeguarded drivers from arm-scorching UV rays with their tinting services, laminating windows with a sleek film that fits like a pair of Ray-Bans for cars, trucks, and SUVs. Mr. Tint’s dedicated staff lavishes every vehicle that pulls into the shop with the same attention to detail, whether it’s a Lamborghini or a Formula 1 Wienermobile. The tinting materials come with the manufacturer’s lifetime warranty, which covers fading, bubbling, or peeling. Clients waiting for their four-wheeled companions can sip complimentary beverages or surf the shop’s WiFi network. Mr. Tint’s team can also tint residential windows for improved privacy, reduced energy costs, or decoration.
Cars roll into Bob’s Auto Service for quick and convenient oil changes. The shop’s skilled technicians tap engines for dark, murky oil before replenishing them with translucent quarts of conventional or synthetic fluids. Next, they hook up motors with brand-new filters, which allows oil to flow smoothly through the engine without dragging along destructive dirt and debris. They can also replace or repair squeaky or broken brakes to help drivers stop on dimes or stop on silver-plated slugs that are even smaller than dimes.
The professionals at Tint Techs can deftly affix window film from brands such as Johnson Window Films to automobiles, boats, homes, and offices. Technicians perform a range of window-tinting jobs, such as applying ceramic-based film to vehicle windows, or to front windshields and front doors for off-road vehicles. Backed by a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty, the films can help reduce unwanted UV rays, protect car interiors, and help reduce energy costs in homes. Tint Techs also specializes in complex jobs for vehicles such as RVs and boats.
The techs behind Scrub Boys Car Wash polish cars of all shapes and sizes—as well as boats and RVs—with a combination of automated machinery and elbow grease. Their car-wash packages render interiors squeaky clean and lavish shells with clear coat protectant and Rain-X. They take the purification process a step further with detailing services, which include clay-bar treatments to remove tiny contaminants and high-speed buffing to diminish oxidation and scratches. When techs aren't lathering jalopies, they’re restoring plastic headlights, which tend to oxidize over time, helping remove the discoloration that makes it difficult to drive at night or through a nature preserve littered with black panthers. Frequent visitors can join Scrub Boys’ Scrub Club, which equips members with gift cards and free washes on their birthday.
