Club-swingers at Heritage Shores Club launch aerodynamic orbs over 7,000 yards of greens and fairways, aiming to shoot a par 72. The Arthur Hills–designed course is built to be both challenging and fun, with water flanking many shots, bunkers creeping just out of view, and clowns waiting in the bushes to juggle lost balls. Five varying tees dot the start of each hole, making rounds customizable according to skill level and preference, and building in variation for future visits. Pairs and foursomes follow their mini globes in carts, gliding over the course's undulating fairways and celebrating good shots by steering donuts on well-manicured greens.
Having finished a project that was nine years in the making following a destructive fire, Colonial Beach Yacht Center's owner, Kyle Schick, and his daughter Robin proudly hoisted their Virginia Clean Marina flag in 2011. The newly overhauled marina had undergone a series of transformations, from recycling more than 4,000 pounds of metal from the yard to installing its own recycling centers. In addition to slip rentals and a dockside restaurant, the center also offers canoe and kayak rentals for an eco-friendly way to explore the surrounding waterways.
Parker Jones worked his way from the ground up to helm Capital Bicycle, which first opened in 1970. He started his career at Capital in 1996 as a once-a-week employee looking to get a good deal on parts and escape the mournful howls of his neglected sedan, but within months he became a store mechanic. A year, he later took control of the entire store, and ultimately, he became its sole owner.
Jones set out to expand the shop’s services in both scope and size, and today, Capital resides in a 4,000-square-foot shop and is one of the region’s first concept stores for California-based bicycle manufacturer Specialized. Customers flock to the shop to purchase Specialized bikes and Bellwether apparel, and they can find their ideal bicycle fit with the help of an in-house certified body-geometry technician. Capital also fosters its own cycling community with a schedule of group rides and helps cyclists to keep tabs on other local events.
Justin Smith's athletic resume is pretty impresive. He's a three-time NCAA champion, and recipient of 2005's Division III player of the year award. He's a Major League Lacrosse player for the New York Lizards, Chesapeake Bayhawks, and Philadelphia Barrage, with whom he won two world championships. While all these achievements summarize Justin Smith's lacrosse career, they leave out one of the most important parts: teacher. During private and semi-private sessions at Annapolis Lacrosse Lessons, Justin draws on his pro skills to nurture the sport's budding talents. Through a series of intensive drills, he helps students refine their stickwork, master dodging defense, and boost their speed with a host of teaching methods, including using a radar gun or having students study tapes of old road-runner cartoons.

At the end of the trip, the crew offers fish cleaning services so anglers can take home their catches. Guests can also book vessels for parties, adding some nautical flavor to birthdays, anniversaries, or celebrations of a new high score in Burger Time.
Awarded the Best Fitness Club in The Capital's Reader's Choice 2011, Big Vanilla's modern facilities aim to make a healthy impression on bodies and minds. Both locations jam-pack weekly schedules with more than 60 fitness classes such as cycling, Pilates, Zumba, Cardio Combat, and yoga. Pasadena's Step-N-Abs intertwines intermediate cardio choreography with abdominal exercises to build lean muscle to the core without having to endure elective washboard implants. Dance-inspiration class also permeates into group groove sessions, which pump hit tunes as exercisers wiggle to urban, club, and Latin-inspired moves. The Arnold gym tones an anatomy's worth of muscles in TMC, which challenges physiques with 60 minutes of resistance training toughened by dumbbells, stability balls, and lead-based chocolate cakes.
